[Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

We have sent a lot of postcards--over 2300 at this writing, and we will continue to send them.

But now we can follow up with phone calls to the Int Base in Hemet. Blownforgood has provided us with another brilliant idea along with the necessary intel.

GO GO GO GO GO GO!

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Make sure that you find a way to squeeze a mention or 2 of the toll free hot line # 1-866-XSEAORG into the conversation with the receptionist or the security guard guys. We want them to blow. Or we want them to gossip to someone who will gossip to someone who will go "oh rly" and use the info to blow at the next available opportunity.

I would also recomend telling them that the police in Hemet will help anyone who wants to be escorted off the base, and that there is nothing anyone there, including DM, to interfer with the police escort. Tell them that they CAN call 911.

And don't forget to call anonymously. Call the 800 numbers ONLY from a pay phone. Other numbers can be called if your caller ID number is blocked.

When the receptionist or security guard gets sick of you and hangs up, call back and tell them that they hung up before you were able to get to the real point of the call, that you wanted to speak to such and so [name on from SP Hall list]. Of course, they won't let you so they will have to take a message. Ask them to write it down. For lulz record it.

I will tell them that I wanted to make sure that so and so got the postcard I sent, that it contained some vital information and I need to make sure it was recieved and understood. I will also tell them that I want them to tell the person that he/she should know that there are many old friends on the outside, who have not forgotten and are ready and willing to help. Tell the receptionist to tell the person, that regardless of the so-called "crime" -- no one on this earth deserves to be treated the way so and so is being treated. Ask her if she got it all. Repeat the Sea Org number and hang up.

Remember that there is NOTHING illegal about this--so there is no way they will be able to hijack law enforcement or the phone company to track you down, if you take sensible precautions.

The link in Blownforgood's post leads to a 404. Anyone have a better link?

    thnx. Fixed in the OP.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Heh, maybe you can spend some time explaining to the receptionists how much better life on the outside is, that they'd actually get paid for what they are doing, that they can go see their family and friends anytime they like, don't have to put up with abuse, etc etc.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

^^^^And tell them that when the Bridge to total misery becomes too much to bear, all s/he has to do is pick up the phone and call 1-866-XSEAORG.

You can also mention that the Hemet police are aware of the situation inside the base, and if an escort is needed (recommended!) just call 911. "The police will come and see to it that you and your belongings can leave. After that, your old friends will see to it that you have what you need to get on your feet again..."

Ooh that first line is a good 'un. I'll use that on my next batch of cards when I get to the PO.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

i didn't participate in the other operations. but i'm def. going to partake in this one. i'm gonna spend my downtime calling some #'s and asking for inmates.

I just want to really make sure they got that piece of mail that got sent them. =)

quick question though. *67? (i don't know where the *86 came from. i tried that (my cell phone to my land line) and didn't work)

as i said, i tried this from my cell phone to my land line, so i was able to observe the output of caller ID

*67 blocked both my name and my number.

a quick google search showed this Caller ID and My Privacy .

i would like to ensure that i'm using the correct syntax, so that they def. don't get my #.

    thanks in advance! xD

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

I think even with 67 they can trace you down. I don't know much about calling privacy though, I'm sure others know much more about this. There's got to be a way to give this thread more publicity, seeing as it might directly lead to giving people more freedom. We aren't getting the same force that some Anons did preWBM change.

    Re: Caller ID Blocking

*67 will block your Caller ID when calling a normal number.

*67 will NOT block your Caller ID when calling a toll-free (800/888/866) number.

Last caveat: blocking Caller ID WILL NOT PREVENT YOU FROM BEING IDENTIFIED if legal action (i.e., subpoena for telco records) takes place.

All *67 does is block the displaying of information on the called-party side. Telco logs will still have a record of the source of the call. In essence, you aren't *really* blocking your number, you're just setting a flag that says you don't want it to be displayed.

tl;dr if you're going to use *67, don't give them any reason to get a court to subpoena call records, k?

Does *67 work when calling from cell phones?

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

    Also, about the airdrop:

It wouldn't be hard in such a deserted area to:

    1) Rent a big truck capable of concealing a collapsible ultralight aircraft
    2) Park out of sight of the road
    3) Assemble the plane
    4) Fly a route over the base dropping pamphlets
    5) Meet up again at the road side
    6) Pack up the plane and disappear.

    Just sayin.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Yes. Just prefix the number you want to call with *67: *67XXXXXXXXXX

    (same caveats apply)

    Public payphones, what about them?
  20. anon131 Member

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

I had a similar idea. I was thinking someone could rent an airplane banner like they did in Los Angeles. Instead of "Honk/Yell if you think Scientology is a cult" we could gear it towards the people at the base. Definitely include 1-866-XSEAORG

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Technically, they can trace you if they want.

So... pay phone guys. If there are any near you at least. There doesn't seem to be many around anymore.

"I'm calling Heber to see if he got my postcard, the one with the phone number 866XSEAORG? Oh, he cant get to the phone? Could you take down a message for Heber and ask him if the got the post card from David Mudkips that suggested he call 866XSEAORG, and he can call me back on that number?. Thanks."

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

ROFL! Brilliant. Variations could include getting them to write down the "real" number:

Can you have him call me back at 866-973-2674 please?

Pay phones: Freeway rest stops. Fast food chains that have public bathrooms. All hotels. Subways, train stations, bus stations. Areas that are very touristy. They are still out there, just not on as many street corners.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

    Possibility-

I used to work at an office that had mulitple incoming lines. The published phone number was line 1. If calls came in on any of the other lines, it was assumed to be a wrong number. Calling from a work phone with multiple lines might work.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

I would test that first. Don't want to run the chance of being grilled for "inappropriate use of company assets"

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

I was thinking, what about using a RC plane with a drop module? You could get quite a few flyers in that thing and it would definitely be a lot less hassle than flying a real plane.

Up at Int Base, they'd probably shoot the thing down, which would still scatter your flyers, not to mention it would be widely entertaining . . .
  28. anon131 Member

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

That would take some masterful engineering and technological skills, but if anybody here has that capability (and the money to blow on something that might get shot down) go for it. It'd be pretty effective
  29. Killawog Member

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

The drop module can be purchased which will work with several different RC planes. Here's one I found: Amazon.com: Aerial Drop Module: FC2, Slo-V, FBF, ABX, ABS, SC: Toys & Games.

They module is bundled with an RC plane for $100.00.

I think this be a worthwhile expenditure. Think about this; even if they did shoot it down, the flyers would still be scattered on the ground. They'd probably send people out to pick them up; those people would read them!! Win!! They could have youfoundthecard.com and/or "did you know Mike Rinder blew?" on them.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Oh wow, I had no idea those existed. A friend of mine had a huge $1000+ plane which he promptly crashed nose first into the ground on it's first flight.

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Or also try something along the lines of: "This is [his/her] [uncle/aunt/cousin/etc.] [fake name], I wanted to let him know that I joined the 'church'. I wanted to tell him in person about how much good it's done for me so far and how much it means to me that [he/she] helped open my eyes. Please have him call me back at 866-973-2674 when [he/she] gets a chance".
Not sure if they would take the bait or if they would deny know anyone by that name. Worth a shot though?

Has anybody actually talked to reception at Gold yet? How did the conversation go? I'm curious. I haven't been able to call due to lack of pay phones in my area. :/

Not to mention a helluva lot safer than getting shot down while you are flying it!

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

Pay as you go cell is not traceable to an owner in the UK, at least it wasn't when the police traced a bomb threat made to a local Gay Pride event (Plymouth) to a cell phone in Oxford; beyond that the police had no idea who made the call. We get sims for free or small amount of cash and a second hand unlocked phone; the only bug is you typically have to credit phone with a minimum of £10. Also internet phone service can be tricky to trace too.

At the end of the day though if thousands of people suddenly decide to take an interest in the well being of the inmates is that really thousands of individual harrassing calls? Harassment surely has an element of repeativeness over a period of time?
  39. anonymous1244 Member

Re: [Operation Over the Wall] Follow Up

This isn't harrassment, but it is Co$.

PROTIP: Buy a pre-paid calling card and use a payphone.
