Another aspect of the footbullet is their attack on Mike Rinder. A lot of folks around here have criticised Rinder for remaining silent after he blew; saying that he did a lot of terrible things while he was 'in' and that he's got to make amends.

If $cientology makes his docs public, they can't blackmail him any further... and they just might get him pissed enough to reveal what he knows. Not to us, but to the relevant law enforcement agencies. In which case... well, let's just say there might not be a 'Sea Arrgh III'.

I'm not familiar with this "Jack Remington" sock. Actually you're missing an even bigger foot bullet.. from a scilon POV do you understand the implications here? Fine there were accusations about DM, and Tommy claimed that they were the crimes of the accuser, not of DM. That's standard LRH tect to claim that a person is acusing another of their own crimes..

However, even if you take the scilon assumption that Tommy was telling the real story.. That means that a HIGH RANKING scientologist was that aberrated even with getting that high inside the church. IF that were true then the church has been aware of AT LEAST one SP in the upper echelons of management, and covered it up for that long.

Clearly the tech hadn't removed that aberration, and if the higherups were willing to cover up for the actions of one SP within their ranks how many others have they sheltered? think about that the next tiem to confront a scilon.

If the cult is guilty of child labour, human rights violations and enslavement, it is of course a criminal organisation without any possibility of religious or moral protection and must be banned outright with all its branches, schools, ships, and other manifestations. As the Prosecutor is trying to do in France on grounds of individual fraud.

But these abuses are part and parcel of what is in the files. They are part and parcel of what Scientology IS, not some separate criminal activities which just somehow happen. I kinda feel sorry for Ted Haggard. Yeah, he screwed up, but its not like he stole money from the church or anything. And he's still paying for his "mistake". Hell, they FORCED the man to move his family from his home, the home he paid for, and couldn't live there for almost 3 years. The man and his family was living out of motels for a long time.

The conditions they put on him were, to say the least, barbaric. Either they have a ton more on him that hasn't come out, or he's so beaten down he couldn't take it anymore.

A very interesting legal point is they have completely blown the "priest penitent" privilege. Although this applies directly to Catholics, most jurisdictions allow what is said to clergy during religious discussions to remain privileged much like attorney client conversations. They can't publish one persons files and claim privilege on another.

From a UK specific point of view this is absolute gold:

By publicising what is said within the confines of auditing is a clear breach of the Data Protection Act. On an individual level this means the poor fool who they get to broadcast the information is liable upto £5000 per utterance. On a broader scale, any organisation found to be repeatedly in breach of the DPA can be shut down. Cheers Jack, you've just admitted that $cientology is illegal in the UK and I would imagine much of the rest of the EU as well...

On a wider note, from a public perspective this is exploitable on the grounds that anything said to the scilons is, quite litterally fair game - that they are untrustworthy to a man.
