Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? The dance has apparently made it's way into WoW, so I'd say it's at least somewhat recognizable.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? You Spin Me Round[/url:1fa67rwg], anyone? If nothing else, the video ensures lulz. In b4 "old meme is old". For Serious Business, there's also Renegades of Funk[/url:1fa67rwg], which I think is relevant.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? I want everyone's honest opinion... Will I be in danger of getting my boombox wrecked if I show up at a protest and start playing this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy_xbXIJ898
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? So, is some anonfag going to compile a downloadable mp3 file with all our favs on it? Maybe this was already mentioned and I missed it? I was listening to my fav again, Dirty Little Religion, by Warren Zevon. It's old, but here's the lyrics for those of you who haven't heard it. I like to think I've earned my reputation For rushing in where angels fear to tread I'll take you home to meet the congregation We'll all get together in my tent I make a dirty little religion out of lovin' I'll make a dirty little convert out of you I make a dirty little religion out of lovin' I'll make a dirty little convert out of you They treat you like a red-headed stepchild And try to keep you nailed to the floor Join us for the countdown to the Rapture We never turned a sinner from our door I make a dirty little religion out of lovin' I'll make a dirty little convert out of you I make a dirty little religion out of lovin' It's a dirty little religion, hallelujah Dirty little acolyte Dirty little one Learn the fundamentals of desire Can I get a witness To my testament? Can I get an amen from the choir? I like to think I've earned my reputation For trying to take the bull by the horns I'll show you where I get my inspiration Where we plow and where we plant the corn I make a dirty little religion out of lovin' I'll make a dirty little convert out of you I make a dirty little religion out of lovin' It's a dirty little religion, hallelujah Dirty little acolyte Dirty little one You'll learn the fundamentals of desire Can I get a witness To my testament? Can I get an amen from the choir?
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? I don't suppose "I Fucking Hate You" by Godsmack would be appropriate, hm? Yeah... thought not.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? Anybody want to serenade Lisa Marie with her Dad's "Clambake" and "Do the Clam"?
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? How about the Clash's "Rock The Casbah" It's sort of a religious connotation, plus, who doesn't love the Clash? Ok, shutting up now.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? If we have to have at least one bhangra song, let it be this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=4GXCFTdoCbQ More songs for my raid wish list- Madness-One Step Beyond[/url:2pkuvv3q] ScientLOLjuicyy MC Lars-Party at the Church of Scientology Warren Zevon-Werewolves of London (all you London anonymous should definitely play this one) and perhaps Lawyers Guns and Money Sex Pistols-God Save the Queen (another one British anonymous should use) The Clash-Know Your Rights The South Park bit with R. Kelly singing about Tom Cruise and John Travolta locked in the closet. Will the Safety Dance be too cheesy?
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? Playing songs with blatant messages, although identifiable, also carry connotations. Does a song like "We're Not Gonna Take It" or "Take The Power Back" or "Anarchy In The UK" really represent what Anonymous stands for? Is this really Anonymous? No, good sirs. No it is not. One of the most moving videos I have seen so far on Scientology is, of course, The Road To February 10th. Why? The music coupled with the build up of actions in the video. It is epic, it is righteous, and it is Anonymous. I realize that most people only have a 2 minute attention span. I realize that most people need something to latch onto that is familiar, but please nobody play stupid music. Explosions in the Sky is a nice choice (first song of The Road To February 10th video is by Explosions in the Sky). That would be a good choice--at least to open and close the protest with. Songs by Explosions in the Sky to use: Greet Death Welcome, Ghosts The Birth and Death of the Day (as the opening and closing song. Think about it, it's perfect).
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? I think we need good ol 80's feel good music, because its funny to everyone yet enjoyable to some extent. im just going to throw one out there, Journey - Anyway You Want It
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? This is what I'm talking about. We need a mix of songs that will get the crowd in, get our info out, and allow us to continuously taunt CoS every second of our protest.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? Please try this" 2. Sinnerman Artist: Nina Simone It's powerful and fitting.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? tis a good song, but I think it'd need editing a bit, or a short version found. in the full version there are quite a few long bits that aren't really protest friendly. also, the shouty "power!" bit will give the wrong impression (a little too gospel for mainstreamness I think).
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? Here's one http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Uu1RP34FLXU One-hit-wonder and oh-so appropo.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? Series of Tubes http://youtube.com/watch?v=_cZC67wXUTs Just got the idea from the LULZ; A Corruption of LOL cd collection. Favorite line: The internet is you and me. In all seriousness, though, my vote would go to something by Daft Punk - masked musicians for a masquerading mob? http://youtube.com/watch?v=oGECJP3phyY or maybe http://youtube.com/watch?v=lV6oSlBDpW8?
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? I say we play whatever we want, we shouldn't attach too much meaning to the choice of music, we don't need a music policy or anything (except no emo, screamo, grindcore, metalcore etc. perhaps  ). fitter happier by radiohead comes to mind for obvious reasons, but it's not much of a song really... edit: songerize.com might be useful when discussing songs.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? Keep this in mind: - Songs everyone can hear. No metal/thrash rubbish that will sound shit on portable speakers. - Songs everyone can sing along to. Otherwise no one will hear the music - Funny songs - A bit of meme is probably good for a laugh. And if you can, bring a guitar or ukulele and play for the crowd! I love ukes - they are win and fun and cute.
Re: Poll: music to use on March 15? I want to point out that if you play music, you can be cited for disturbing the peace. I would not put it past church officials to call the police on you. That being said, the tube song is an excellent choice.
