Members of the general public are much more likely to get involved if they've done their own research. Rather than throwing the Gold Info Pack at someone, often times you'll have better luck simply nudging them in the right direction. To that end, Mistegirl created the viral marketing concept behind YouFoundTheCard.com.

YouFoundTheCard.com is designed to grab attention and hold interest just long enough to start a person down the path toward action. With the site dilligently maintained by Mistegirl, the hard part is over; now for the the fun!

Your job is to distribute, through any means available, cards imprinted with the aforementioned URL. By relying on a person's curiosity, our message becomes much more effective (infective?).

The most effective cards have the least information. The cards should not mention Scientology or activism, although the Anonymous suit has been a popular addition.

Here are a few examples:

Post your own designs and we'll add them!

Miste has graciously provided a copy of the entire site's code. If you want to set up a similar site, simply download http://youfoundthecard.com/yftc.zip . The site is designed to be easily adjusted to a new URL.

On the subject of new URLs, the following URLs redirect to YFTC:
youfoundthesticker.com
hiddensticker.com & thehiddensticker.com
unfairgame.net
youfoundthecard.org

Some anons have been making business-card sized CDs:
thecardlabelrv6.th.png.jpg

Random quote:
Suggested locations:
- Vending machine change slots
- Inside newspapers
- Pockets of clothing still in the store
- Inside books in bookstores
- Under coffee lids
- Gas pump credit card readers

The idea is for someone to *find* the card; make it seem like a scavenger hunt the person has just stumbled upon.

What are you waiting for? Get carding! :anon:

To help celebrate Anonymous' renewed interested in carding, I've ordered a new box of 5,000 cards with this design:
(the cards are glossy black on the reverse side)

I'll mail, totally free of charge, packs of 100 or 500 to anyone who would like some. Yea yea, complain about giving up your mailing address all you want. Order them to your work address if you really think the staff of Enturb is out to get you. :lrhmoney:

It'd be great to cover as much area as possible, so if you're heavily involved in a major city, let me know so I can send you 500.

Once these are gone, we'll print 5,000 with a new design! PM or email me if you're interested in getting a package in the mail. :fuckyou:

Card are all taken, but we've got something even bigger coming up!

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

Very generous offer - thanks! Places where I've placed the cards: Mens and Womens Suit Jacket pockets everywhere from Sears to Nordstrom to Nieman Marcus. Recipe stands in grocery produce departments, CD and DVD covers in libraries, at every restaurant or pub I patron, "free perfume sample" plastic displays in department store perfume counters. shoe boxes in department stores, public restrooms - sink counters, stalls. This list goes on. The funniest was at a dance club - some guy was trying to pick me up (and I wasn't interested LOL) and asked me for my number. I pulled a card out of my bra and gave it to him. LOL He said, "There's no phone number on here." I said, "I know - visit me on my Web site." Killed 2 birds with one card A. Possible new Anon. B. D00d left me alone for the rest of the night. Win!:fuckyou:

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

I love the cards - people throw out or glance at fliers, but pocket them and will check them out later.

Question, though - for a few days after the 14th, would it be possible to have the sites theme Sea Org or have links to it on the front? People will definitely be wondering why a pirate handed them a card, and i think it would keep them on the site.

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

How should we contact you about getting a box of cards? Would PM on here be fine? I'm in clearwater and could really do for a 500 set.
8. TakeAnonMe Member

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

PM is fine, or you can email me at (my user name) at gmail. If you email, just be sure and include your name on the forums. :)
9. Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

TakeAnonMe, if you don't mind, how much does it cost to print out 5K cards like that? That would rock if we can create something like that for Comic Con for less than the $1,600 that's being proposed. Sure they won't be postcard sized but the goal was 50K cards/postcards. Let me know and I'll let the SD anons know.
10. TakeAnonMe Member

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

$50 for 5K cards

Also $100 for 5K postcards :D

I still think the homepage needs more pictures or colors, it didn't keep me interested enough to read what it says... and I should be interested.

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

I've started leaving mine in gas stations (n the cookie piles, as I know everyone goes there!) and saw another anon slip theirs into those free paper boxes- you know, help wanted and auto mags. I'm planning to hit up some stores that have the pegboards where anyone can hang up a sign, too.

I pondered leaving them in the catsup/mustard packet stations at fast food places, but I don't know how good they'd be there.

Yes, I still have cards left, and yes, I'll ship them overseas. :fuckyou:

Be creative with these cards :)

One person put it inside one of those plastic eggs and left it on a phone booth.

I hope you guys can find it useful in this campaign.

I thought it's good because it's SHORT... and a dot com.

Can anyone think of a good acronym it could stand for?

MelbAnons might want to /r/ a new batch of 5000 down to Australia for local distribution. Do you want money for that?

Down here, similar cards are $90 for 500-1000.

Please standby.

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

Hi!

I'm going to add a front page blurb with links to the Operation Sea Arghhhh Stuff and a page with details on the Sea Org and what's wrong with it. If anyone has anything written up anywhere about the Sea Org that I could snag that would be helpful, if not I should be able to write it up.

I'll also snatch the card designs here and add them to the ones on the site already. I've been meaning to add more designs anyway.

If you want to take the site for a new URL feel free, just PM or IM me if you have any questions about changing it around.

Most of the settings are in a settings.php and it's very very easy to move.

During Memorial Day weekend, a very popular Southern California vacation spot will be peppered by these cards. Pics forthcoming.

FREE BUSINESS CARDS

You only pay for shipping.

In the UK, that's ~£3.50 p&p for 250 cards. Pretty good if you wanna keep it cheap/smaller-scale.

I bought 250 of;

youfoundthecard.jpg

I think the eye design is most appropriate.

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

I'm still waiting on a few addresses. There are 20 people on the list; be sure to share the cards with your local anons. :D

If you PM before I get all the addresses & ship the cards, I'll make sure you get some.

If you miss out this time around, there's another batch not too far off, and a bigger project in the works. :yay:

Holy christ does that website ever try its damndest to trick you into signing up for 10 million different services. I got sidetracked on to some shady ONLINE REWARDS PROGRAM!!!! website just trying to confirm my order. I hope I didn't accidentally buy a consultant or something : (.

Oh God how embarrassing we showed up in the same design!
34. Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

+20 cards in random stores and restaurants
+50 cards in a bookstore, including tucked into every copy of '1984' and 'Fahrenheit 451' - I thought it was fitting.

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

After 200 cards, my printer ran out of ink. :/
Ordered some cards on Vistaprint, but 4 weeks to wait for them to arrive on the cheapest option is loooong.

Any suggestions on how to slip cards quickly into places like clothing pockets and other items for sale? Most shops have heavy security in the form of gaurds and CCTV.
36. Semicolon Member

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

You can always just pretend you're trying the clothing on (or maybe even try them on for real) and then slip in some stuff in the changing room, but that's not what you would call fast...
I think you just need to find a certain technique with which you can slip them in while browsing through them...

Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

A suggestion for where to place cards; how about at bookstores, inside copies of Dianetics or any other L. Ron Hubbard books? Same goes for libraries.
38. Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

And if they stop you, what will they find? You haven't taken anything, and in my experience shorting/shoplifting is really all they care about.
39. Re: Project Andromeda - Viral marketing through YouFoundTheCard.com

On my local board, someone mentioned putting the cards in all copies of 1984 and Farenheit 451 as well... owing to the subject matter in those particular books.
