Here’s what I do. I call the org and ask them. Some of the information I’ve posted here on EO has been obtained by just calling the org and asking them questions. An OG critic from Las Vegas named Ted Mayett, used to do this quite a bit and then he’d post the information to a.r.s. It’s easy for me because I speak Scientologese, and once they hear you speak the language, they know you are “one of them”. But anonymous can do this too if they stick to a script and don’t get too adventurous. CALLING THE ORG PROTIP 1 Be very friendly and introduce yourself. “Hi, This is Betty Sweeney from Boston. I’m going to be in Atlanta (put your org here) next week for a family event and was wondering if the org will be setting up anywhere for the bookathon? I’d like to bring my sister to it, because I know she has some interest.” You want to give them a fake name. Identifying yourself will be a good sign to them. Don’t use stupid fake names like Tanya Kutjacockoff or something similar. Not all scios are dummies. Scientology is desperate for new “raw meat” and will be happy to have you bring your sister for a potential sale and recruit. PROTIP # 2 I type out what I am going to say to the scio answering the phone, and then I practice it a few times so it sounds natural. When I place the call. I read what I practiced in a very friendly upbeat voice. PROTIP # 3 If the person answering the phone doesn’t know the answer, you may get “routed” to someone who will know. If any of the scios gets suspicious and ask questions you can always say that you are new to Scientology and are just learning about, it and that you just “completed the Success Through Communications Course” and want your sister to have “similar wins”. Words in quotes is how a scio would say it. If you are asked for a phone number don’t give it or give a fake one. If they ask you to come into the org with your sister, say no, your sister is not ready for that, but a bookathon or stress test booth would be great. PROTIP #4 <mods: removed pending discussion> PROTIP # 5 DO NOT DO THIS ^^^ without coordinating with your other local anons. If the org gets 2 or 3 phone calls saying basically the same thing, you are going to blow it. Talk on irc or wherever you meet and have one anon do it. These are not prank calls, this is information gathering and something the cult does to critics all the time. All kinds of information can be obtained by just calling the org and knowing the right thing to say. Of course, there’s a lot of stuff you can’t ask. NOTE TO OSA: Don't get your knickers in a knot, you guys taught me how to do this stuff. I'm using your Scn tech to make the world a better place.

Imagine a Tabling shut down at every attempt because anonymous got their beforehand. Odds are half of the tables would never get set up because anon is there flyering and inoculating the area.

Re: PROTIPS on getting info from your local org also, keep track of where and when you encounter tables, talk to the shop owners close to the tables if the scifags are there regularly, etc etc. we got a couple of very nice contacts which inform us about tables, got some businesscards of people we can call to check if there's a table in front of their shop, and we're currently mapping out their weekly schedule. this will make sure you don't have to cruise through the whole city looking for them. trust me, they rarely change their schedule, at least here in germany, but i guess it's not different in other countries.
Re: PROTIPS on getting info from your local org Also the Scios like to set up in Flea Markets and local Fairs. You should be able to find lists of Fairs/Fleamarkets in your State/County/Country. Call and find out if any Dianetics Booth/Way to Happiness Booths/Stress Test Booths have been there in the past or are going to be there in the future. Usually they register under a name that omits any mention of Scn or Dianetics. But calling the org for info is still your best bet.

Once the orgs get wind, they will treat everyone calling suspiciously, causing down morale since no one can trust anyone on comm now. As for being illegal, not so sure about that. Lets look back to the HP case, when HP sent PI's after it's board members. The courts are still undecided about that, and those PI's were trying to get personal data, not schedules for "Public Events"

This is good in most scenarios, but in Scientology, and even in scenarios when you are pretending to be an authority figure, it is more effective to be mean and angry, because they may think you are not legit, but if you are angry, they are going to be less inclined to potentially piss off a guy in charge even more by accusing him of not being who he says he is.

Impersonating police officers, impersonating individuals to obtain sensitive financial/telecoms info etc. are ALL illegal. However, the OP doesn't suggest anything that breaks any law as far as I can see. Relevant legislation includes the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, The Federal Trade Commission Act, some of the Wire fraud legislation and so on. Please can you be specific if you disagree with this.

Just saying that you have to make a game plan, stick to it, and after the initial eval of the conversation you enturbulate. I have been using this method for years. What the original poster stated was true. If you are playing a part, play it as an enthuastic person full of sunshine and happy thoughts. Depending on the situation I agree with you. When pretending to be an authority figure be authoritative but not angry. Anger denotes loss of control. I would never poop on anyones method tho. If it works for you, use it. I am just saying that when I conduct my interviews and interrorgations I find that right moment, shift from nice to not so nice. So in retrospect, both methods used in conjunction work. Stay Safe

Re: PROTIPS on getting info from your local org Even if you can find some way to finagle it as perfectly legal, I submit to you that it is INCREDIBLY unethical to do this stuff and at the least, shouldn't be taught by some sketchy ex-OSA crook who on her best day, wasn't trusted by even Gerard Renna. I'm perfectly fine with admitting I've done criminal things for OSA when in Philadelphia, NYC and Buffalo but I'm not willing to advocate others attempt to reproduce my behavior for "good" reasons.

I doubt that that any case can be made that fibbing a little to determine the future location of a public stress test/book selling table is compromising confidential information! Not unethical at all in my book, just very clever! Anonyleaks, I submit to you that it IS unethical to try to draw the enturbulation community into OG/ex-scilon turf wars. Anonymous is neutral on these matters and is grateful for any info/helpful hints which can help educate the public and enturbulate members/victims of the cult.

We largely rely on self-policing, so if you see a problem, call us - don't just post randomly and hope we read it. On the topic: I don't see any way in which calling the org and asking about a public event is illegal. Posing as a specific individual may well be, depending on state and local laws. I suggest all Anons do their research before engaging in these activities, and Anonyleaks would be much more helpful if s/he posted examples of that research. On the drama: Stuff it. Nobody cares about who liked who back in the day.

Making up a name with no significance to any one is perfectly legal. Telling a BS story where you do not claim to be a power figure and not the person\organization that you want info about is unscrupulous, but it is not even a little bit illegal. It is not OK to use this kind of stuff casually but it's not against any law that I know of. I don't think posing as a Scilon on the phone to get information is unethical when used against a group has a 50> year history of infiltration and deception of every stripe. This kind of information is power and like all power, it needs to be welded carefully and for justice. Furthermore; by teaching this stuff to people, OSA is in effect saying it's OK for people to use it against them. I'm sorry if they didn't think about that ahead of time.
