Rally Xenuphon Los angeles - Sunday 2pm NOTE: this is not a protest! THIS IS A RALLY! WE ARE SUPPORTING XENOPHON'S REQUEST NOT GOING AGAINST IT! Ok so the Australian government has said it will take a look Senator Xenophon's request for an inquiry into Scientology, but the Opposition in the Senate is not so keen. Anons around the world should immediately plan peaceful rallies outside the embasy So if any socal anons have any ideas on what to bring put them here! USA - LOS ANGELES Australian Consulate-General Century Plaza Towers - 31st Floor 2029 Century Park East Los Angeles CA 90067 australian embassy los angeles - Google Maps When: Sunday, 2pm Where: Corner of W Olympic Blvd / Century Park E
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Another question is this, since this is a rally and not a raid, should we bring signs, fliers etc in support of Xenuphon or should we have it clean (no signs)?
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles I dont think its a good idea not to stand out there with nothing. Just make your signs and fliers appropriate to the situation. Also, Corey Delaney theme.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles you have my axe. HugeAnon: yes, bring materials that promote your agenda to the rally that is meant to promote your agenda. obvious advice is obvious.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Anyone know what foot and car traffic is like over there? Looks like the area could be 50/50.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Agreed, corner of Olympic and Century Park looks like the best spot for us, at least to meet up and get started. We can decide from there. We need some sign ideas to get peoples heads in the right place. IMO our normal "Scientology is a cult" efforts would still make sense here, but we should avoid anything that speaks directly to scientologists (like all those sea org signs we all have).
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles OK, how about a consensus on time? I'm thinking a bit earlier than we normally raid. How does 2 PM sound to everyone?
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Ok, how about a consensus on a day? I'm thinking we need to pick Saturday or Sunday before we can decide what time to raid.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Methinks teh signs should say something like these ideas: - "Thank you Australia for helping to fight Scientology abuses!" - "Australian senator spoke out against Scientology. Now it's OUR turn." - "American Senators: An Australian Senator had the guts to speak out against Scientology in their Parliament. When will YOU get the same courage?" - THANK YOU AUSTRALIA for Senator Xenophon and his speech against Scientology" How about this?
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles someone should bring some good australian music, like AC/DC and wiggles
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Canberra, Australia is +18 hours from Pacific Time, and rallying at 2pm Sunday would be simultaneous with 8am Monday morning there. OTOH, a Saturday rally may get us press coverage in time for Monday newscasts in Australia. If we rally on Saturday, someone MUST poon the real live TV press. We will have to fag it up extra special since there are already protests going on all over California this weekend over rate hikes at UCs. It may be tough to get this noticed.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Century City is a ghost town on Sundays. Traffic is light on Santa Monica Blvd. If you're going to rally on Sunday, your best bet for traffic is Olympic Blvd.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles I just wanted to support the idea of Sunday. If Sunday, I can make an appearance. If Saturday, I am already busy.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Their website says they're only there on weekdays, 9-5. I hate to say it, but it seems like it would make a lot more sense to do this on a weekday. Are we not trying to get this message across to the Australian government that this is something they should follow through with, rather than the LA public who have no influence on the decision? Of course it would be a positive thing to let the American public know that the Australian gov't may do something about the cult, but isn't it the Australians we're tying to help by rallying at their outpost abroad? I don't mean to sound like a jackass. I'm just not clear on what exactly our goal is here. That part of Century City is pretty much empty on a Sunday. Since the consulate will be closed, does that mean the location is non-essential and we could have the rally elsewhere?
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles A weekday seems best to me as well....just may be hard as people work and have school. I still don't know if I will have free days next week. I guess a day should be picked, and just hope for the best.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Even if people could just spare the time from about 11:30-1:00 or so, that's when all the people come out of the buildings and into the quad to eat. It's bustling for that 1.5 hours. You can't go up the towers without a reason (security) but someone should call up there and tell the consulate that we're down in the quad with a message for them.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles The problem with weekdays most of us have lives. So you two can enjoy standing out there by yourselves if that's what works. Also, it would have to be tomorrow. Monday would not work.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles lol. Not criticizing anyone for being unable to turn up on a weekday. Just saying it probably wouldn't be effective to showed up on a weekend. I'd have a hard time making it too. Rock & a hard place...
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles If we had more time to plan, maybe tomorrow could have worked out, but we're on borrowed time atm. It definitely would be more effective for sure. Just too many things that wont make it happen.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles I see that it was mentioned that Sunday at 2pm would be the same time as 8am Monday in Eastern Australia. But is something in particular happening Monday we have to protest in time for? Why can't we do it Monday or another weekday next week?
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Makes sense then. But getting news coverage for a small protest on a Sunday in an empty area...when we have had trouble getting news coverage for big protests just ain't happening. We would have to film it and put it up to youtube ASAP and send links to interested parties.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Realistically, I dont think we'll get any media attention. This is more so for parliament in Australia.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Let's make our own media attention, hold the rally and send video to all the members of Australia's parliment. Video and 'Dox' to Australian members of Parliament will give support, to Xenophon. It provides cover and documentation to Senators who may be skeptical of lending Xenophon their 'vote'. A Senator who's 'heard the voice of worldwide opinion' might be more willing to join Xenophon in his efforts!
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Great idea! Only thing is that video would have to be worked and finished ASAP after the rally is done. Time is of the essence.
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles I remember we did have news coverage on the first 2 or 3 protests, but those were the biggest ones
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles So I'm looking for a rabbit mask online and this is the second thing that pops up when I search "Rabbit mask" on amazon: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Pipedreams-Fetish-Fantasy-Rabbit-Strap/dp/B002HREO24]Amazon.com: Pipedreams Fetish Fantasy Rabbit Pearl Strap-on with Free Love Mask: Health & Personal Care[/ame]
Re: Rally Xenuphon Los angeles Post-raid dinner at Outback? [mod]This is clearly a joke. Socalfags go to Denny's after raids.[/mod]
