    Uhh... I dunno. The mods have a few places they stick the shit posting and maybe decide based on the shittiness factor.

    Just register and go to the dome and it won’t be “hidden” from you.

    However, my guess is whoever moved it there wanted the convo between HOC and the guest poster(s) to end before it got worse. So, again my guess, moving it to the Dome locked out the guest poster(s).

    The mods have to use their best judgment because there are only so many hours in the day to waste on derails. Sometimes I don’t agree with their decisions and I get sniffy. But a good argument gets taken into consideration. Maybe try making one if you disagree with the mod’s decision?

    Basically, the version of XF we're running contains functions that are no longer supported by newer php builds. We're running it because of add-ons that are not updated to newer versions. Essentially we're at a catch 22, update XF and zend framework to newer / latest versions, break more functionality, or run as is till a less painful way of upgrading has been figured out. Alternatively, backport PHP, but that is pushing problems forward.
    It'd be nice to have the post anon feature working, sure. As for keeping people interested, that is absolutely outside of my reach.

    Pretty much all of the above. I've sacrificed more than I'd like to think about over the years, the gig I have going right now is excellent but does drastically reduce the amount of time I want to spend behind a computer screen. That doesn't mean I don't maintain wwp, e.g patching heartbleed was done because it was a critical issue. However, fixing our addon / xf stack is (going to be) time consuming, and right now I simply don't have it.

    On WWP, the Miranda/Ed Ravel dox have evidently been domed, which makes them invisible to unregistered users, those who have not logged in, and those who don’t choose to go to the dome. This was an interesting decision, as WWP has a thread upstairs for derails. The dox contain no personal information, CP, or goatse. They are simply whistleblowing—the revealing of previously hidden and controversial information that challenges those in power.

    Is this what WWP has come to?

    I would suggest that before forming an opinion about this and related controversies, it would make sense to read the dox. It’s just information. Obviously you’re free to interpret it as you wish. Information is free and will not hurt you.

    Moderation is a form of censorship but in service to free expression.

    If you don’t have moderation, you get the unreadable mess that was alt.religion.scientology. Because “free expression” can be used to derail and effectively drown out certain viewpoints.
