RIP Roland Rashleigh-Berry

Roland Rashleigh-Berry, long-time critic of Scientology and @RolandRB on this site, passed away this week. Author of the Xenu leaflet, one of the first and most successful early Internet-sourced anti-Scientology documents, translated into a couple dozen languages.

This was back when these SOBs would actually physically attack you when you protested and he took a solid punch to the face during one of these protests, which he actually finished.

That aside, he was a genuinely witty person, with a sharp, sardonic bite to his humor, and trolled friends and foes alike.

There will never be another like him.

I just read this on Hartley Patterson's Facebook, and I hope he has more to say in the future. I'm not sure if this will work but he is @hartley patterson here.

  7. Once I found his CV somewhere and I sent him an IRL but totally anonymous birthday postcard.
If I remember correctly, he died way too early.

Oh man, this is sad news, and too young indeed. :(
I always enjoyed his off the wall posts, and capacity to think up the zaniest protest ideas

    RIP RolandRB

Condolances to his family. We never met IRL, but often sparred with the OSA bots on a.r.s., and I will never forget his response to Helena Kobrin when he received his 'Kobragram':

    A necessary question:

Did Roland have any sites or public storage (photo albums, etc) that should be archived?

Aw man, terrible news, Roland was quite a wit and is missed already. I guess this is why we haven't seen him posting this last while :(

Sad news. Others posted the image of Roland that I took back in the day. Here's one that Roland took of another much lamented and passed too soon critic, Dave Bird.

I saw Roland last summer, and he was doing fine. Condolences to his loved ones.

Seems like Roland's style of humour. Nice touch for artfully reusing Fritz Lang's Metropolis.

Never met him in real life, but I wish I got the chance to. Condolences to his family, relatives, loved ones, epic trolls and friends.

He was the greatest motherfucker to ever kick scientology's ass in my books, and I will never forget the time he likely did troll me to great lengths... and I enjoyed every bit of it.

    Rest in peace, RolandDB.

I resolve to carry on some of Roland's work against CoS - including the trolling.

I'm sure he would have wanted that, and I can't think of a better way to honor him. I can only aspire to become half the $ci critic, and half the troll.

Thanks for saving this image - or making a fresh one, if that's what you did. Somehow, I knew I would find it in this thread, appropriately near the top with a fuckton of likes, even though I've only seen it in one other place on WWP.

(I think I first saw it posted here, years ago, but the image link is broken now, and it was posted anonymously. Maybe someone with a long memory can confirm the origin of the Roland troll-smile shoop, because I'd love to give the original shooper my internets and praises.)
