i.e. they filtered out the spamming from the Paulites. When you rig a poll, don't cry when you get caught.

You know, from the other side of the pond and not really having a bone in this fight...Paul is the only one in the complete field (and that includes Obama) that would probably be able to stop you murrikans from being buttraped the way you are getting it now due to his extremist, moonbatty but resolut libertarian stance.

I wouldn't know any western people that has been so thoroughy sold out by it's elites, be it the political, financial or media elite, as you have been over the last 25 years. Your trade deficit is horrendous, and it's trending even more scary. We Germans got it bad as well, but at least we still make things that people want to buy and our companies didn't dare to move the jobs abroad. Plus we still wield at least a little influence on our politicians. Senate and Congress in Washington are meanwhile so remote from the people and so corrupt that it isn't even funny more. Chief-Lobbyists get administration jobs on a regular basis just to swap back happily to lobbyism when they got the regulations in they needed to feed the big companies more taxpayer cash and exclude competition a little bit more. And so on and so on.

You are approaching a point, and you are approaching it fast, when the whole shit is gonna hit the fan because of the pillaging and looting of the public funds with the help of the very same people you elected to safeguard those funds. And the longer the breakpoint is delayed, the more it's gonna hurt. You hardly have any other choices left but doing something radical if you want to turn the wheel around. Same old, same old from no matter what political side will have you broke and shattered within 5 years if that long at all.

    Just my 5 cents.

The problem with Paul is his views on religion would undo all the work we've accomplished. He'd probably put DM in the Lincoln bedroom for a weekend. (reminder to watch them Clintons)

On the tax-exemption, aye, true. In all other respects the djinn is out of the bottle, Scientology is the butt of jokes worldwide, and nothing's gonna change that. And well, if you put it into perspective, the problem with American money is far more important than the problem with a made-up American religious scam.
  5. lulzgasm Member

As far as tax exemptions, etc., goes--even if RP could get the backing of Congress to do so, his views on such would force an even playing field, so CoS wouldn't have an advantage either way. (After all, if RP had his way, there'd be no income tax, period.)

But on things regarding executive authority, as President, he would be in much more control over very important things like the war and the emerging police state--the two things his libertarian, non-interventionist views run counter against.

Go visit a hospital, you'll see plenty of American things that people want to buy. Other than that, I agree with you.

As evil as Hubbard and his sinister organization are, don't you find it completely amazing that they aren't more popular?
  8. lulzgasm Member

He doesn't have a chance in hell unless more people start voting in the primaries.

They'd probably have been more popular if LRH hadn't invented a bad scifi character to be the protagonist in his make believe little world. All hail Xenu, intergalactic overlord! It doesn't even have a nice ring to it...

The more I watch/listen to RP, the more I like the guy. When I listen to him, I don't feel like I'm being spoon-fed a prepared/memorized speech. I feel like his rhetoric is from the heart, even if I don't agree with 100% of his ideas, I'm forced to listen. I can't say that about any other politician, ever. It's just too bad that it doesn't matter who gets to sit in the Oval Office, the same old elitist agenda will be enforced.

Notice how at the end they all (except Cain) ran over and shook RP's hand?
Hmmmm....I wonder who the real frontrunner is? ;)

Well, we both know that unless we all write in RP on the ballot next year, he's finished in politics, he simply doesn't have the corporate sponsorship the other candidates have. IMO, Michele Bachmann has a solid chance, at least her record isn't all fucked up like Romney, Cain and Perry's are. My problem with her is that she isn't very passionate about anything, she's like a drone, but unlike the other three I just mentioned, at least she isn't a crook. I'm fucking tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I think we need this guy to be on the ticket.

My opinion on Paul is that he seems to have a clear view of the problem and the honesty to communicate it to the public. His solutions however do not appear to be terribly sound and highly dependent on a VERY participatory public.
  27. ItchyScratchy Member

He has a very utopian view of the world. Sadly there are bad characters out there. I actually like a bunch of his proposals, the ones I don't, I really really don't like and there aint no splitting the baby :)
  28. Anon_Jon Member

You can tell that he believes in the core of his being that what he's saying is truth, that's like a breath of fresh air in itself. You are right though, some of his ideas on foreign policy aren't going to fly. While I'm 100% for ending our occupation of pretty much every other nation on Earth (with the exception of intelligence-gathering personnel) and avoiding "foreign entanglement", we can't afford to be isolationists. I'm curious as to how he'd respond as Commander in Chief to a terrorist attack.
  29. 11th Doctor Member

I like Ron Paul and all and I think he's a cool guy, eh pwning republicans/democrats and not afraid of media blackouts.

I just hate his fanbase. 95% of them spew conspiracy nonsense "ZOMG RON PAUL GONNA SAVE US FROM NEW WORLD ORDER ILLUMINATI".

    1. You're either a Ron Paul supporter.

    2. You're a brainwashed government sheep made to serve the NWO as a obedient and mindless slave.

    Cain the homicidal vegetarian?
  31. xenubarb Member

Yep. Need to fix Congress, too. Buncha friggin millionaires; talk about being out of touch with mainstream America. "Out of food? Do what I do, send the cook to buy more!"

Then they go and steal a farmer's land.
  34. lulzgasm Member

RP would agree with you. He's no isolationists, just a non-interventionist. There's actually a difference between those two terms.

The same way Thomas Jefferson handled the Barbary pirates. The constitutional way. Ever hear of a "Letter of Marque & Reprisal"?

How do we know this though? This issue hasn't been brought up and RP has never been specifically asked this (as far as I know), and it should have been because the LP party's stance is pretty vague:

So if I understand you right, we hire mercs?
  36. lulzgasm Member

It was brought up plenty of times during his '07-08 run.

Mercs, special forces, etc. --whatever it takes to go after the specific individuals involved in the act.
A far better, and much less messier, way of dealing with international terrorists than to, oh say, bomb the fuck out of damn near half the Middle East.

But then again, a war and loss of civil liberties is necessary to prevent an internal/external threat, even if invoking an internal/external threat (whether it be real but hyped or faked) is the first of a ten-step process in closing down an open society (btw, May-Sept. marked the moments when Step 10 began--declare martial law or just subvert then ignore the rule of law). :/

I disagree. I think that having the states function independently, with minimal oversight from the federal government, is not only what would save our failing nation, but would boost it beyond anything it has ever been. "Devolving" isn't a fair term. Welcome to the 21st century, where we have real-time communications from one side of the continent to the other and jets that can fly at 20x the speed of sound.

Part of the appeal for this "restructuring" to me at least, is that we could actually allow Liberty to ring her bell for the first time in all of history. If you want to be a Mormon, go to Idaho! If you don't like state income taxes, move to Florida or Tennessee. Hell, we could give the Scilons Rhode Island (then have Iran nuke it)!

Maybe you didn't know that Florida and Tennessee really doesn't have a state income tax? Future attempts at deflection will be ignored.
