I love these firework gifs because they depict how I felt about life* while walking to -----shire on New Year's Eve, after dinner and a mini-flash raid with moog (footage to follow).

It was the best New Year's I have had in a long time, or ever, possibly.
And yet, last night was not a good night to be a Scientologist in San Francisco, if you thought the SF Ideal Org was the Place to Go to party hearty.
Despite the fact that they celebrate things east coast time, walking past the place right before 9pm PST, there was nary a peep. However, the side doors covered with the usual dog-eared posters, which means the cult apparently reads this thread. (I think I can speak for all of the SF Anons when I say we are very flattered...)

Moog and I started things off right at our favorite post-raid hang out (OSA already knows we go there: calm down, everyone): Naan-N-Curry on Jackson Street, home of delicious and reasonably-priced Indian food. (hey, free plug! http://www.yelp.com/biz/naan-n-curry-san-francisco-2)
And I daresay Darth Xander is wrong about a great many things (Ryan Gosling, for instance), but foremost to my mind is his stance on Indian food:

    SDUH4.jpg

Lingered and talked and then went to sniff out the Jacob Marley-esque org.
Wished Ethics Trouble a Happy New Year, saw Bookboy, Vicky, Josh, Rico Suave, but no Pippi nor Jerry... took some pics with BUTTCHURCH and time to call it a night, as they'd locked up at the org.

This is where it gets good -- just when I thought I blew it.
After parting ways with moog, I assumed it was still pretty early, when I look at my watch and it was actually a quarter 'til midnight! Holy cow -- we could have easily killed 15 minutes and I would have gotten a kiss from the most handsome guy in town!
But no, midnight was creeping up and instead of making merry with moog I was surrounded by plastered strangers and seedy strip joints (only the very best neighborhoods for Scientology) beginning to feel the familiar New Year's Eve Sucks vibe.
Until, I look up and I'm right in front of a breathtaking church!
You notice how church doors seem to be shut tight most times these days?
The doors were wide open, and I could see the sanctuary glowing golden and friendly inside. By now it was probably 5 minutes until midnight -- could there be a better thing than to pray my way into 2013?
But better and better! There was a service -- albeit the end of one -- so I turned off my blinking Christmas light necklace and joined in with the others for "Joy to the World"!
    uOgQQ.jpg
It turned out it was the very end of the service; afterwards, the congregation filed out along with the priest onto the front steps, and the priest blessed the city.
It just felt... perfect: particularly the contrast between the prospect of a strip club-filled New Year's Eve and a Holy Spirit-filled New Year's Eve.
After the blessing, while we lingered on the church steps, someone randomly started up singing "Auld Lang Syne" and everyone gamely joined in, even while filling in some of the unknown words with "da-da-da."
And then smiling, non-plastered strangers wished the people around them Happy New Year.

I felt so much better by now: what a way to start 2013! But it got better, even! I ran into some guys from an Italian restaurant who needed to unload some cannelloni. Three of them. Yes, please!
Thank you, Jesus! The feeling is mutual! <3<3<3
The final lovely happening was when I walked by a gay couple, who smiled at me and wished me Happy New Year! One of the men hugged me, and I finally got my New Year's kiss.
I offered them some cannelloni and the same guy fed me some and politely corrected my mispronunciation of "mascarpone." I then received enthusiastic compliments on my outfit!
Thank you, San Francisco! The feeling is mutual! <3

side note: none of these pics are mine, save the ones of the church. again, footage to follow... and if the footage looks really good, that would be moog's stuff...

Note to mods: you really should font-size restrict anonymous non-member posts. They tend to FAG up the THREAD. Ahem.

S2G, loved your New Year's Eve. Frankly, I don't know how you made it past midnight after naan and curry (I would have found a park bench for a lil nap). If you can't have a McMuffin, at least you can have a cannelloni! Happy New Year! Blessings and good wishes to you, Moog, rickybobby, newbswithbewbs, adhocrat, and all the rest of the AnonGays!

I can't say enough nice things about the crew at Naan 'n' Curry!
Not only are they friendly, kind, and accommodating, they totally look out for us.
For instance, both times the cult came to spy on us at the restaurant, the owners were hip to it.
The Cult of Scientology: making enemies wherever they go.
    SO. MUCH. FAIL.

Saag paneer for me, kthx. I lurve Indian food. I lurve naan. I lurve mint chutney. Most of all, I lurve Indian buffet so I can have all of it, at one time, at an annoyingly undersized plate that demands to be refilled.

If one Anonypock't should trademark "doinitrite," you know who has my vote. SanFranChan: powered by lentils! Watch yo'self!

I can take neither credit nor blame. Greater minds were busy at work ;)
EDIT: Talking of greater minds -- I forgot to mention -- Chuck Beatty made some good comments on one of our vids -- here are screen caps, and the video is at:
    1. This is a still of the guys at the door he's referring to:

    2. Here are Chuck's comments -- the one at the bottom is the one he said first:

Sorry to not have acknowledged this earlier, Chuck! I noticed them on Christmas, and I felt guilty checking my email at all, so I put the thought aside.
I especially (!) appreciate the positive feedback about the good videoing -- I catch a lot of you-know-what from people about the so-so quality, and so it's a really nice compliment coming from you! <3

An alternate strategy might be to report derailing posts for a mod to move elsewhere, coupled with avoiding quoting the offending posts multiple times. That strategy might result in the offending post appearing 0 times in the thread rather than 5.

OK, that fifth time was me. :D

We can inform Jerry that his old buddy Ronn Stacy, “Alaska Ronn” is out.

That does all sound rather special.
But, as a former problem user of cannelloni I feel I have to warn you that that's a slippery slope to go down (especially seeing how gravity is going to have more of a say in the way you move after you've had a few).
j/k, now returning you to your regularly scheduled enturbulation and wishing all San Fran protesters a very happy new year!

canneloni? i think you both mean cannoli, yes?

whoops -- yes, I think you're both right. I did very half-a**** (apparently) research for it and tried to get it right: a google images search for "cannelloni" and came up with desserts.
I can't believe something on the internet was wrong!! ;)

    EDITED FOR DESSERT ACCURACY:
I ran into some guys from an Italian restaurant who needed to unload some cannelloni cannoli. Three of them. Yes, please!

^^ and there I was, thinking cannoli, but being convinced I was a rube and mistaken. I'd eat either, so no harm, no foul. Although I'd rather be fed a cannoli at midnight by your stranger than a canneloni. LOL.

Stay on target...LENTILS! (actually, lentils not my favorite, nor quinoa. I'm of a certain age now and must stick with cannolis).

Point taken. I try not to "reply" to messages like that to avoid Streisanding. The only entheta I multiply is lulz, so, not lulzy, no quoty. And while I am busy fagging up this thread, I'll add that it is an internet peeve of mine when people mistake pronouns for or blend pronouns with onomatopoetic words, thus "he he" or "hee he," as in the example above. Not a grammar butt, but still, if you're going to do bigotry, do it full redneck please. Haw haw. Just. Sayin.
