Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD All true, but a judge may need to spank them in that jurisdiction to get the scientology criminal enterprise there to knock off the Fair Game.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Why did you need to give info? When will footage be up and is it going to be on Failtube or vimeo or somewhere's else?
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD When that happens, it's time to request that the cops check their database to see who has looked you up! (Or do PI's have access too?)
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD One of the cops I talked to said he was very familiar with Scientology (not in a tinfoily way) He did his research. The Police here are not the problem - their hands are tied as there is pressure from above. They dont want to mess with us. at least 2 of the 15 cops ive talked to over the last year or so said to me quietly that they agreed with what we were doing and supported us but will not admit to it as they dont want to lose their jobs. Scientology is treading very dangerous water here but they dont care if this blows up in their face. they can claim to be "upstat" for the week. I also told allender that they lost even if they defeat some anons with this crap. that they will always be a UFO cult and a marginalized religion that no one will take seriously. after my rant he complimented me and asked if I practiced that in front of a mirror all night. then he called me an sp and I agreed with him. He also told me that I was never in scientology as they "looked into it" I then asked him if he thought that it was creepy to investigate critics and how many more hundreds of thousands it will take before he realizes hes been duped.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD God, tell me you have that on video! A protestor told me they saw Allender at the corner by himself before the protest began and it looked like he was psyching himself up like right before the big football game. No doubt talking to himself, LOL. If you look at previous video of him he is always standing by himself for awhile, thinking, thinking, thinking. Hey, I didn't know OTs think like mere wogs. Oh, they "looked into it"! Creepers.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD As pointless as this police stop was, honk signs are pretty stupid imo. Informative signs are much better, and people will still honk. Also, you get some information across to newbies who have never heard that much about Scientology. Websites urls are always a plus.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD for those that were ID'd by police, if you receive any paperwork (C&D, work or neighborhood harrassment, etc) keep it and and go down to the police station for a friendly chat. Explain that you believe the church was simply using the police to access personal info. Not that anything will come of this, except letting police know 1)they're being used and 2)why the scilons are so determined to get people arrested for the dumbest little things.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD In the US, no permission is needed for taking photos or video from public property (except in some questionable cases having do with secure government & infrastructure facilities). Wouldn't police have the same freedom of private citizens in this regard?
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD so was this thread also intended to be general post raid talk as well, because i don't want to bother starting a new thread about it if this was intended to be it
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD I think this thread has been derailed enough to be focused on the police actions during the protest. If you wish to start a thread for general post-raid reporting, be my guest. Here's something to add to the OP: there was a "shirtless o'clock" session. There are pics, it did happen.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD In my area, the cops know all about Scientology and think it's some crazy cult or queer organization or something. But they WILL NOT talk about Scientology openly. All is "hinted at". It's not just the cops, it's other branches of gov and organizations. I have a feeling that there's some sort of public policy about talking about "the public" or anything sort of religious. I'm not sure what the policy is, but I can guarantee you that: a) Scientology is known about (unfavorably) b) they don't talk openly about it c) they would do something about it if they could. I've never worked anywhere near any "public office" or "gov employment", so I'm clueless and curious. Are there any critics here on the boards who could fill me in on what the public policy might be that would cause so much "not talking about it"? ----------------------------------- [SPOILER=Sig line: On OTIII you discover Body Thetans... ...and Xenu.]Click here: OT8 secrets forced out of me in deposition. Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Simple. Employees of government agencies don't want to be the schmuck who causes the agency to get sued and harassed by the cult, and end up having to spend endless hours defending it. If it's just some guy they'll screw with him. Something like Scientology scares them shitless, though. You could also say Scientology has a "Somebody Else's Problem" field around it.
You could also say Scientology has a "Somebody Else's Problem" field around it. You can say that again! If it didn't, it wouldn't be taking decades of time and thousands of critics just to get a little attention. B-I-G "somebody else's problem" field.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Muldrake, (and I apologize for further derailing this thread) I have been thinking about this "special force-field" all week-end. WHAT special power, or special connections, or special something does Scientology have? Since when does the government, with thousands of government lawyers at its disposal, fear getting sued? And in many instances it's not possible to sue the government, anyway. Why does Co$ get so much special treatment from so many government agencies? Most groups respect and fear the police and the FBI, and they tremble at the thought of the IRS. Scientology runs the police in a lot of areas; the IRS does Miscavige's bidding. Hell, I'm ready to tinfoil up and believe Satan protects them. Muldrake, do you have any insights?
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD You need to read more about Scientology without asking others to feed it to you. First step, find out what happened to the IRS in 1993. Scientology bullied them into giving them charitable status. There is so much written about it, there's no point in even summarizing it here. Once you've read just that one story, you would have a better taste for why a government organization would shy away from "taking on" Scientology, and why a gov org who did take them on might drop the case. There are other cases with Scientology that show the same behavior, but start with the IRS bullying. The other half of the "special force field" is probably simply the aspect of government agencies not wanting to poke their noses in any religious organizations.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD i think the issue was less about taking pictures of them and more about making them take off their mask before doing so.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD their special force field is their religious status and is treated much like the force field countries get when they develop The Bomb. As soon as an organization gains this 'thing' is developes a weird bubble around itself that people think is untouchable. as soon as scientology harassed the IRS to the point where it gained tax exempt status the government as a whole took a nice big step backward from it. i'm curious though. tax-exemption only validates that they're a non-profit organization. where is it that they've been recognized as a /religion/ in the USA?
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD I hope it does not. OMHO, police is there for a certain purpose with specific powers. They are not tourists.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD The pictures they took were of our faces, full body shots, and then face photos with masks on (in my case, mask and Pacman hat)
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD maybe we should have the police what OG asked, ya know, to face away from the org when the mask offpics were taken. but what's done is done, too late for that
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Wow, thank you for your ignorant response to a question you obviously don't understand. You might want to brush up on reading comprehension at Kaplan before you retake your SATs. I have no idea who you are, but unless you are Fred Goldberg or David Miscavige, I am certain that I have forgotten more about the IRS decision than you COULD ever know. I am also certain that I know more about decision making at the US federal level than you WILL ever know. It is this knowledge that prompted my question. Thx for the tips, though! Get to bed now. It would be a shame if you missed the schoolbus again and had to walk.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Dox please !! I don't mean the 2000 + court cases that the church stopped funding either. The reason they have that feild is because the pester the shit out of the officials to get them to do their job and/or use up all of their time.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD The link below goes to an excellent article in the NYT. It's a very good summary. The fact that they imply the IRS Commissioner was blackmailed means that he was blackmailed. (My favorite rumor, which I don't believe this article mentions, is that they had photos of him with an underage boy. His wife would have HATED that.) Former IRS Commissioner Fred Goldberg is now the co-head of Skadden, Arps Tax Practice. Skadden, Arps is one of the most prestigious law firms in the world. Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD I like where you are going but not sure this is the thread for it.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD It isn't, and I'm really sorry. I wanted to answer the other poster's question, and s/he asked in this thread. If the mods want to move all of this, great.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Hey, Schoolboy. Here's something for your study time. SCIENTOLOGY'S CORRUPTION OF THE U.S. LEGAL SYSTEM
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD No, because in a Terry Stop a LEO may only make reasonable inquiries for acting on reasonable suspicion of a specific crime. Not a vague, "Well, I think you are up to something." Photography by a LEO is not an inquiry. In an arrest, photos can be taken by a LEO as part of the evidence gathering procedure based on probable cause or a warrant.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Under the U.S. Constitution, no governmental entity may determine what is or is not a religion. However, under various State statutes or local ordinances, groups calling themselves religions are given special privileges. I think all such statutes violate the First Amendment, but a court in the State of jurisdiction, or a Federal court would need to void the statute. Below statutory law, there are various public policies used by governmental entities that recognize religions, although still contrary to Constitutional Law.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Did anyone remember the first name of the DA (or whatever title) we were supposed to contact about this? Her last name was Carr. The officer told us to send all the information about why we shouldnt be charged with this. She is the one to put pressure on to not persue it.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD holy shit, im gone for however long because of cash flow and this happens. but seriously was six cop cars necessary. i remember one protest where the cop said they installed a camera on the oppisote side of the street pointed at the church to film in case anything like this happens.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Nah, you're doing a perfectly fine job. I think you've got it covered.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD L O L from your surprise that respectable law firms were unable to do anything to defend the po widdle irs says to me that you know nothing about decision making at the federal or any level for that matter. i suspect you are one of the vast and faceless army of bureaucrats whose sole occupation is to whitewash the real decision making process with a happy, non-corrupt looking technocratic system. i recommend starting at the bottom of the political shitpile, where you can actually get in on the backroom decision making that actually determines the course of this great nation of ours. and no, i'm not some tinfoil wearing art bell fanboi. i learned the good ol' fashioned way: by doing. man, nothing like sitting in committee and having people randomly call in to various members to remind them how to vote.
Re: San Jose raid gets raided by PD Wrong, asshole. Let's continue this discussion in a new thread. /r/ mods move tax-exemption posts.
