a lulzy little booklet for those who know Christian scriptures thats chock full of face palms, eye rolls and stomach flops. but still lulzy. fileshare: http://www.mediafire.com/?qzh6z5mo4c7gbuu extra mirror: http://www.scientology-london.com/secret/resources/Scientology-Bible-1967-booklet.pdf Not exactly brand spanking new material since wise old goat posted the main parts of this UK booklet ages ago, and its been widely quoted in several academic papers / journalism articles that delve into the cult's religious status. But the wise old goat version doesnt have enough ooomph for using as effective harpoon fodder within Christian circles. so now we haz better reference were bible thumpers can seen the unseemly (and sometimes insane) comparisons this little gem offers for themselves!
:doublefacepalm.jpg: This is quite possibly the biggest pile of horseshit evar produced by the cult of Hubtardtology.
Huh? I mean seriously, huh? As a practisiing Christian who knows his Bible pretty well, this is the first scientology document I've read in opened mouth disbelief since the frist time I read about xenu. I don't even know where to start with this. I truly don't. What on earth was this supposed to do? Did hubtard assume that any christian would read it then say "wow, scientology is the exactly thesame as I believe, except for bits about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, heaven, hell, atonement, sanctification... and pretty much every major Biblical doctrine. I'm going to give moneys to scientology." I honestly can't find the words to describe what utter crapola this booklet is.
Are these the words your looking for: the stupid... it burns. and with they way the typeset is laid out like old fashion bible study workbooks where u got the scripture on the right and the interpretation on the left - i was ill.
But isn't all Scientology Fiction crapola? Or worse? Words fail me, too. I regard it all as what happens when a psychopath with access to power tools goes into advanced states of amphetamine psychosis. Phiip K. Dick went into advanced states of amphetamine psychosis and had access to power tools, but he wasn't a psychopath. See the difference? Of course you do.
Try to remember that on the upper OT levels, LRH believed that all major religions are just past life implants, done by space aliens. Psychs and Priests are the same group of people, according to an old LRH lecture that has since been "cleaned up" of this idea. Psychs and Priests both used implanting to control people. To my knowledge, that audio and transcript section was purged by DM and ilk a while ago. So no, I don't have dox at hand to support this. The old reel to reel tapes might still have the psychs and priests implanting reference.
I'm not a christian. I read it and there is no ambiguity for me in understanding what hubbard was up to in writing and publishing that text. Among many objectives, he was validating his pseudo-science with religion. as was noted in #7;
Hmmmm kinda makes a lie out of their claim that you can be a ______________ and a $cilontologist too. They wouldn't lie would they?
Hmm. While it's copyright by L. Ron Hubbard, it seems to be a work by other people based on the works of Hubbard. You know that they'll try to weasel out that way. The last page is by Hubbard, dated September 1965.
what is that Catholic blog that writes about COS on occassion? I am sure they would love a copy of this
I will answer my own question Contact Randy Sly http://www.catholic.org/ I am on my way out the door, I hope someone can poon him?
I'm sure that was the whole purpose of the book. Hubbard probably ordered a bunch of drones to compile this thing and not to worry about it being accurate or rational. He wanted a prop so that Scientologists could say to politicians and judges "See, we're just like other religions!", and then wave this book at them until the target's eyes glazed over and they gave in before they nodded off to sleep.
-Killed by medical doctors administering an incorrect drug in Melbourne. Victoria, Australia, 1966. Oh the lulz, therefore the entire medical profession is just wrong.
some of the comparisons are complete nonsense, others are like comparing beef jerkey to fruit salad, and others that seem to have a hint of similarity are all taken way out of context and twisted into nonsense when you read the actual bible passage. FWIW I have that price list mirrored separately for my growing collection of scilon fee schedules: http://www.scribd.com/doc/55463367/Scientology-1967-Price-List ^^makes for a nice artifact showing hubbard pimped his brainwashing manual. but there was so much other insanity in it that wasnt getting the justice it deserved on wise old goat's web page (the cover art & front matter makes all the difference) that i had to pass it on to the anony leakers circle after i snatched the price list.
are any of these people out and in the exsci camp? If so - it would likely be entertaining to have some backstory behind it.
Don't worry, I'm very familiar with the OT materials and the scientology religious cloaking crap. What I can't get my head round is how this utter crap is supposed to convince anyone. It really looks like hubtard wanted to try and get some christians on side and ordered some of his minions to trawl through the Bible and to find amazing connections with his own work. These minions must have realised that there is pretty much nothing to connect scientology and christianity and just trumped up whatever crap they could to avoid the RPF or equivalent at that time. The sheer stupidity of the whole thing hurts my brain. Scilon fail.
personally, i think the front cover and title page subliminally answer that quandry. which is why I'm glad this finally got leaked - it put the contents into context for me. ^^Notice the quotes... who the hell is being quoted? father time of scientology ethics manual fame??? erego, hubbard's alter ego of himself as the all-knowing old man. yet the actual title page has this long form subtitle... a manifest??? with only 50 some halfsheet pages??? and why not put that subtitle on the cover, why so mysterious and why is the sales pitch line more significant?? what i see is targeting disaffected/inactive Christians - lost souls who need rescued... with recognition of Christian scriptures being "holy" therefore this must be OK, followed by the charade of showing "hey were compatible with how you were raised but yet we offer so much more" and fwiw - i think the appeal is meant to be "we rescue you personally right now" rather than a salvation you have to work for by striving & failing to live a good Christian life. and you can see the progression from "we're compatible" to "we know more answers" in the last section on "SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE DISCOVERIES OF SCIENTOLOGY BY RON L. HUBBARD AND THE AIMS AND GOALS OF THE FATHERS OF THE CHURCH "
No, that old guy is supposed to be the R6 God (The Pilot in OT III). R6 is basically the starting point of your whole track Reactive mind. It's not a drawing of Hubbard, the face is supposed to make you restimulated and uncomfortable. Yes, it's the same guy as drawn on the old versions of the Ethics book cover. The face is supposed to restimulate you in the same way that the volcano on the Dianetics book is supposed to restimulate the Xenu volcano incident and magically impel wogs to buy the book. Sorry, no dox, just stuff from memory. Google can probably confirm this somehow if anyone is really interested, or maybe Wise Old Goat has something about it somewhere.
Yea, I read someplace that all the old book cover designs were based on whole track incidents, so we get the Freight Train on Venus, the Caveman, the Beardy Fucker, Loyal Officers loading Boxes onto DC8s, volcano, and so on and so forth.
Like the pulp fiction he wrote, and romance novels, trying to sum up the whole book with a visual teaser.
Irony alert. Scientology book in OP used images from whole track and OT III story. In OT III, LRH basically makes the claim that all major religions are whole track implants perpetrated by outer space aliens. The drawing of the old bearded guy is supposed to be the R6 God. So, Elron came up the wonderful idea of using the OT III implant and drawing of old beard dude to restimulate Christians into converting to Scientology. \Sorry, I'm probably not explaining this very well. LRH reference about the old man drawing
Yea but God only looks like that in Rennaisance art, prior to that time it was taboo to try to depict God as it still is in many cultures, the old beardy man is a very Westernised ideal of God and if he existed 75 million years ago in that form then I'm an amoebeic cell in a fish tank.
Given the universes of Phil and L.Ron to choose, I would take Phil's every time. Having been a PKD fan since '78 (I was in HS) and having seen his following organically grow since then, I would guess that someday he will overtake L.Ron and leave him in the dust. I would rather have the PKD universe of anti-authoritarian, compassionate gnostic christian freaks than L.Ron's haters any effin day of the week. If we must choose sci-fi universes, I'm rooting for the one envisioned by the aspberger's afflicted science fiction geek who loved cats, thanks.
bump 4 crossposting somewhat related stuff buried in the scientology magazines thread, compliments of scintellanon from way back when. Check out this issue of Advance Magazine Issue 2 circa 1968 [1yr after leak in OP], starting on pg3 in the pdf with the article "HEAVEN AND HELL" http://www.lermanet.com/reference/Advance issue 2.pdf the stupid.... it burns! also - moar highlights of scientology's bizarre take on comparing itself to major religions and/or comparing LRH to major religous leaders coming soon... I'm compiling a waft of other readily available magazine excerpts (huggles to the legacy of pooks due diligence paying off), in order to put together fair usage excerpts for releasing on scribd as research dox on all things worth seeing on the subject of how scientology defines/sees itself as religious and is akin to other major religions. The Christfag in means feels ^^This is needed... OP booklet deserves a retrospective reckoning. It's time to get my 25yr hobby of being an armchair theologian & amateur new-age-weirdity scholar thang on in full force. Someday the cult will atone for this shit. and i shall attempt to plant some seeds amongst the interwebs to pave the way for future reference/citation seekers & my fellow researchfags alike.
nice i like your brain and the fact that you have one its my second favorite organ (woody allen) (also that you described yourself as a "Christfag" is super awesome cool....I believe that he might lol)
