I wonder which way the Big Placebo industry will spin this: Tighter quality control needed on snake oil?

Spin: Members of Anonymous, a front group for Pfizer, infiltrated the manufacturing plant and added kidney destroying agents to an otherwise successful mixture of stress dose vitamin D.

So I take it he doesn't want to accept that he pulled it in? Or is it just that his company is full of suppressives?

That statement appears to be attributed to Bruce Levine. That wall of text is hard to decipher, but it looks like there are statments from a couple of people there, not particularly complementary of Scientolgy, true, but not his words.

Meanwhile there is a photo of him at the Scientology Freedom Mag site, but I am afraid to go there

    Vitamins A, D, E, and K are all fat-soluble.

FAT SOLUBLE. HYDROPHOBIC. i.e., DO NOT DISSOLVE IN WATER.

when you have medication or vitamins that say "take with food or milk," the reason why is because the substance is hydrophobic, and it needs fat to be present for its uptake.

hydrophilic chemicals get into your blood almost as soon as you ingest them -- think of grain alcohol and how quickly you can feel it getting you drunk. hydrophobic drugs dissolve into the fat from your food, which passes into your intestines, and are uptaken much more slowly as media travels thru the bowels.

this guy should've induced vomiting with emetics; had his stomach pumped; his intestines flushed; a colonic/aenema; quick-acting laxatives.... but drinking water to try to "cleanse" yourself of a hydrophobic compound?

i can see that drinking a lot of water could help a little, and make things marginally easier for his kidneys. but if dude had 1000x the normal dose of hydrophobic vitamin D, drinking extra water would take weeks and weeks to flush it out.

It's gotta be the same Gary Null. There can be only one; the guy's a serious piece of work - AIDS denialist, the works.

This news was received with great schadenfreude glee; "supplements" are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, which is the way the quacks want it, but now we have a brilliant illustration why that's a dangerous breach of medical ethics.

Here's some ROFLChairmanMAO from the scientific community.

Too deliciously ironic for words: Gary Null hoist with his own petard : Respectful Insolence
