Scientology Protest Music Mix CD

Discussion in 'Fliers & Pamphlets' started by AnonymousTV, Feb 13, 2008.

  1. Re: Scientology Protest Music Mix CD

Gary Numan is an early electronic artist. His old stuff isn't exactly up-beat. He did a lot of dark sci-fi stuff; a lot of stuff about androids (which that song is about as well). The lyrics seem to fit somewhat, though it's more of a dystopian society kind of thing. Wiki article says he took the term from Scientology (no source), so... may be onto something there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Only_a_downstat
  2. All the cool protest songs I could find on my comp in English and that I didn't see posted already:

    Soft Revolution - Stars
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor (maybe the Chiara Mastroianni version for April 12th?)
Through Fire and Flames -Dragon Force
First We Take Manhattan - Jennifer Warnes (less wierder than the original, I think)
Talkin' Bout a Revolution - Tracy Chapman (More for April)
The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny - Lemon Demon
    Crystal - New Order
Children of the Revolution - T Rex
Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles
Money (That's What I Want) - The Beatles

And that's when I realize I need more English music :S

I know one thing for sure; the next protest I'm at, there'll be "IS SOMEONE GETTING THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST THE BEST", etc.

I swear, I don't know why I find this strangely viral yet forced meme so funny.

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, even if you only play Burtons introduction and the first song.

I saw someone post Teenagers by My Chem. Srsly, that is possibly the suckiest song they have ever produced and I'd hate to put it on display like that, even it if is relevant. It's just embarrassing.

    ALSO
For Reconnect I'm doing a 'Promise' cover by Anberlin for a vid.

And I'm really suprised I haven't come across this song, considering all the energy it has. (Well, it does say 'BOOM' but more in the context of theatrical-stage-smoke-bomz than the bad kind)

    SALIVA - Ladies and Gentlemen

I think "Microwaved" and "WYSIWYG" by Pitchshifter are apt songs for protesting. Catchy and the message is congruous with what we're doing.

Micheal Jackson - They Don't Care About Us

    Sikinhead, deadhead
    Everybody gone bad
    Situation aggravation
    Everybody allegation
in the suite, on the news
    everybody dogfood
    Bang bang shock dead
    Everybodys gone bad

All I wanna say is that
    They dont really care
    about us

One more thing... who's the guy in the silver jacket, the slicked back hair, and the huge bowtie?

I'm trying to find his music but can't remember his name.
  19. Re: Scientology Protest Music Mix CD

Iron Man - Ozzy Osbourne (Epic singalong)
Weekend Wars - MGMT (free on iTunes right now)
Scientist - Dandy Warhols (vaugely relevant)
The Top Gun Theme!!!!!!!!!!! For the love of god the top gun theme!!!! The Scifags who recognise it will be pissed!
Beverly Hills - Weezer (Everyone loves a party song to sing to!)
Wont Get Fooled Again - The Who (Nice little relevance to a con-cult)
War - Edwin Star (WAR! YEH! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? 'nuff said, epic singalong)
Confusion - The Zutons (similar to wont get fooled again)

For us Londfags = London Calling - The Clash (again with the vauge, vauge relevance and good tuneness)

    Also, from the LondonLulz page:

Any street dance party/protest mix needs Deee-Lite "Grove Is In the Heart."

    More protest-y:

    Born Against - "Eulogy."

There was this friend of mine, needed something we couldn't give
convenient answers and a cheap way out
    killed himself without actually dying,
took a blunt lie and gouged out his mind
And I can't acccept that he's found the answers
to those questions I'll be trying to solve until I die
And I can't accept that he's somehow "better off"
because the answers aren't that simple
we always assumed he wasn't either
and I want his beautiful religion to burn
    because Steve's dead...
I wasn't offered the chance to say goodbye.

I think we're going to need to make several mix CDs.

Each one should be different. Like a Reconnect Mix, a Meme Mix and an Anti-Scientology Mix.

    Microwaved lyrics
Systematic abuse on a daily basis, youre a racist (you dont know why? )
Evidence of your intrusion, multiplied by my contusions.
You cant suture the future (though you might try).
Because were cut, dried, microwaved, safe in the knowledge that well be saved.
You say theres no black in the union jack but you cant give me a single reason why.
I say theres no common wealth in the commonwealth, cause its the
Colour of your money matters since the day the country died.
And dont you read the papers?
Economics is going to save us and science never sleeps!

    WYSIWYG Lyrics
"God awful waste-of-space dumb degenerate low-life mal-adjusted freaks."
now I want just one day for things to go my way, low-life de-generation,
    generation.
"got to know your place, dumb degenerate low-life, failure of the week."
if what you see is what you get then we have nothing to regret from all the
    things I've seen.
and when there's nothing to regret our stupid lives we'll be better yet, at
    least we'll all come clean.

    Fall to pieces: Velvet revolver:

    Lyrics:

    It's been a long year
    Since you've been gone
    I've been alone here
    I've grown old
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

    [CHORUS]
    Every time I'm falling down
All alone I fall to pieces

I keep a journal of memories
    I'm feeling lonely, I can't breathe
I fall to pieces, I'm falling
Fell to pieces and I'm still falling

    [CHORUSx3]

    All the years I've tried
    With more to go
    Will the memories die
    I'm waiting
    Will I find you
    Can I find you
    We're falling down
    I'm falling

    VERY APT.
