My own opinion is that people who are not ready for that information should not read it. For example if you wanted to teach a kid how to build a bridge, you wouldn't start him with calculus but instead with arithmetic because the higher level of calculus wouldn't make sense to him.

Yes, all religions exist on donations. Yet, Scientology is the only one with a price guide. If Hubbard's teachings are as good as you say, can you imagine the massive donations that people would make after receiving it for free? If it's really that powerful and helpful, people would open their wallets to make sure it was spread as fast as possible.

If you complain about the catholic cathedrals, I tell you that MANY (by not saying all) were possibly paid by the kings/queens/duchess or noble men from the time they were built. It was always a nice way to get in awesome terms with the Church to make a big cathederal,church or a place for a saint and such.
Now, that was important for the evolution of art and architecture. The frivolity of this noble douches was useful for humanity,at least..
