And thats why i filed a complaint with the ACLU. I now consider the "what i did to try to make it so we could peacefully protest" conversation closed.

they don't have to show up for the arraignment. normally, all that happens there is you enter a plea and a trial date is set. the charges were thrown out at arraignment probably because this was the first time the PA got a chance to look at them and saw they were horseshit.

What exactly do the Scilons need "protection" from? Us? Words? Pie?

They tried to move us across the street here once. But, since it was a hot day and the org is on the shady side of the street, I said no, we're not gonna be doing that. We have the right to be here. As long as we abide by the laws, we have the right to be on this sidewalk.

Then again, our cops are not assholes, so after admonishing us to behave, they left. But it really wasn't about the right to the sidewalk. It was all about the shade.

oddly enough, the side opposite the org is shadier for us... and we have permission to use the property opposite the org as long as we clean up after.

it's more a symbolic gesture than anything...

    yep.

FWIW, I'm a bit less enturbulated/more secure on the other side of the street, and wouldn't mind protesting there. But SD Hive lieks the Scilon side, and I liek SD Hive, so :p I smell puthy

It is very nice to be lieked by LEO <3

I have been waiting for some clarifications but none given so far. Ace's handling of the case, from being arrested, to getting the charged dropped, represented only by himself, is totally awesome.

However, I don't who is talking to whom - who is "we" and "they". Getting the case dropped is a total win, with case precedence for LE. Walking out on the DA after that would be caek. Don't talk to LE rule applies I would think.

I just want to reiterate that if you don't want something getting back to the scilons, it is best not to post about it on a public forum. They do read, and they have a good internal communications structure, when they decide to use it.

Anyway, I'm glad the charges were dropped.

"Don't talk to LE" rule is still in effect.
It will remain in effect until LE returns Mimi.

    Ramenacious bastard.

From what I know about protests, and this is strictly my opinion:

    1) Police are very edgy about protesters being near the target of the protests. I have seen this done with people protesting abortion clinics. The police are edgy because they don't want the protesters to halt normal operations. Also they want to make sure that if something happens, they can weed out who did what easier.

    2) Most state and local laws have rules about protests. These laws are in place to protect the target and also the protesters.

Now, from what I have gathered, Ace did nothing wrong and it was a great thing he got the deal dropped. As for him giving any win to the Scilons, I don't see how he did. He wanted to show that he wanted to continue to protests but still do so with cooperation of the local law enforcement. This will guarantee that the LRoninites won't try a fast one and guarantee Anons there have protection.

The scilons probably told the police that they've received death threats, vandalism on their buildings, etc... the usual garbage they tell people. Whether the police believed it or not, they probably felt it necessary to take precautions. But I guess that's the reason we build good relations with the police, who would otherwise not know any better.

I agree fully with ya. However, I have always assumed that cops would want to be there in case of the event things happened (like the scilons decide to start shit with us, or vice versa).
