Yeah. What was that about Scientology making you a success? After all the money and time he has pumped into CO$ it must be hard.

And of course, what he is being told is that "he pulled it in" All his failures are his fault and if he just pays more money and takes courses, and pays more money and does another purif, and pays more money, and pays more money, and pays more money, he will be an A list movie star again.

Thats too cruel. How bout just divorced and talks about all the weird shit Tom and the cult did to her. That would even save suri from a lifetime of suck.

    Thats true.

I wasnt implying it wouldnt be cruel, of course it would be horrible for her to die because of the cult, but on the other hand it would make them look pretty damn bad and i would like to see them try and get out of that one, following Jett's death.

If Katie died, Suri would be doomed to a life of shit. Tom would be given full custody of Suri by default, and then her chance at freedom from cult brainwashing would no longer exist, unless Tom loses custody of Suri to the State.

It's not even funny to joke about. Suri is a victim.

Here's cut from another article. I do wonder who is coming up with the money for all this. Hollywood has had to tighten it's belt along with the rest of the country.

Script doctor's in for Tom Cruise - Entertainment News, Film News, Media - Variety

"Tom Cruise is narrowing the prospects for his next film, but no matter which he chooses, he has single-handedly propped up the script doctoring biz: Studios have spent millions of dollars in rewrite fees to custom-tailor projects for the star.
The frontrunners for his next film appear to be the DreamWorks drama "Motorcade," to be directed by Len Wiseman, followed by Spyglass remake "The Tourist" (with Charlize Theron), to be helmed by Bharat Nalluri, and Fox action comedy "Wichita" (with Cameron Diaz), which James Mangold will direct. Also still in the mix is MGM's "The Matarese Circle," which potentially matches Cruise with Denzel Washington and helmer David Cronenberg.

No longer in the mix are Universal/Working Title romantic comedy "Lost for Words," to be directed by Susanne Bier, and "The 28th Amendment," the drama Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck will helm for Warner Bros.

While screenwriters all over town have been taking haircuts on every deal, the script doctors in the Cruise derby have been making as much as $250,000 a week, for two to six weeks, as they hone projects with notes from Cruise. Those writers include Scott Frank, who has been revising the action comedy "Wichita" for Cruise to play an action hero; Richard Curtis, who beefed up "Lost for Words"; and Paul Attanasio, who is now rewriting the rewrite that "Matarese Circle" director Cronenberg delivered.

Meanwhile, Billy Ray continues to hone "Motorcade" with notes from Cruise. Christopher McQuarrie is doing the same on "The Tourist," which the writer is also producing. (Ray and McQuarrie are not technically script doctors because they've been writing these projects for months.) And Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci also did some reworking of "28th Amendment," which they originally sold as a spec script in 1999."

Talking about Suri as victim of bizarre cultish practices, do I remember that Katie wore some kind of gadget that produced white noise all through her pregnancy? Is this why Suri is getting special education?

White Noise May Delay Infant Development
Hearing Delays Seen With Continuous White Noise in Animal Study
    By Salynn Boyles
    WebMD Health News

April 17, 2003 -- A new study suggests that exposing infants to continuous white noise -- commonly done to soothe infants or drown out other noises -- may delay hearing and possibly language development.

Investigators found that exposure to continuous, unpatterned sounds such as white noise delayed development of the brain's hearing center in young rats.

Unlike speech or music, white noise, such as radio static or an air conditioner's hum, is random sound with no distinguishable auditory pattern.

In their study, published April 18 in the journal Science, Edward Chang and colleague Michael Merzenich, PhD, exposed rat pups to continuous background white noise loud enough to mask normal environmental sounds, but not loud enough to damage their hearing. Development of the hearing region of the brain was compared with animals reared with normal environmental sounds.

The researchers found the rats exposed to the white noise showed a significant delay in development of the hearing center of the brain. And development in these rats did not catch up to the unexposed rats until they were three to four times older. Though hearing development was delayed, it did mature to normal adult levels once they were no longer exposed to the continuous background noise.

Penelope Cruz breaks her silence over break-up with Tom Cruise

Malaga, Spain - It's been three years since actress/model Penelope Cruz and the world's leading scientist, Tom Cruise, went their separate ways.

Now, Penelope has finally decided to break her silence about the painful break-up, in exchange for $1million. When asked why she has never spilled the beans before she candidly confessed that she had never been offered this much money before. For a further $2 million she has also agreed to spill the beans on why Tom broke up with Nicole.

    penelope_cruz_003.jpg

"The truth is" Penelope says, with tears tumbling down her Loreal ("face" in Spanish) "Tom was just too old fashioned for me. You see he wanted me to take his last name if we got married. Now it's not that I'm a feminist or anything, it's just that I really like the sound of my last name and it's how people identify me. Now if I were suddenly to become Penelope Cruise how would anyone even recognise me? Add to that the Bechkhams' named one of their sons after me. How could I go ahead and change my name when such an honour has been given to me?"

After weeks of fighting about the name change, with neither one budging an inch the Cruz-Cruises decided to call it a day.

"It was about 6am in the morning" Cruz went on "the sun was just breaking out over the horizon. I said to Tom "it's daytime now, no longer night" and Tom agreed with me. "You're right, it is a day" he said. And that was it - we called it A Day and then we split up three months after that."

Cruz wrapped up the interview by admitting that she was "pretty goddamn pissed off" that Cruise married Katie Holmes and let her keep her last name "after all that!"

When probed about the Kidman-Cruise break-up Cruz responded by saying that she wasn't saying another word until the cheque cleared "And it's quite a juice story" She added with a wink "come back and see me in five banking days."

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

That's silly. You don't need to disrupt threads to gather information. All you need to do is read them and report on them. Whoever has the job of gathering information probably never posts. Another thing common to actual OSA posters, as compared to Herro, is that your usual low level disruption trolls are only allowed to discuss one or two issues, and only take one or two standard lines on them.

For instance, on ars, you might have had a group of three posters whose sole job was to attack Bob Minton about something, another group devoted to Larry Wollersheim, and another aimed at Arnie Lerma. They'd never say anything original, but just endlessly repeat the same few talking points. (ARS is basically ignored these days because it's of very little importance at present.)

Then there's a layer of a few people with somewhat greater autonomy. But that is a very *few* people. This would be people like Lynn Farny. Most of these people have fairly identifiable writing styles, though.

Herro isn't anything like this. He's pretty obviously doing what he feels like when he feels like it. Obviously it's not impossible for OSA to change tactics, but it's pretty unlikely. I really don't think the guy is OSA. Whether or not he's an asshole is open to debate.
  33. auchraw Member

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

Yes it's silly; this is a silly thread especially at the moment. No I don't really think he's OSA either. Maybe he's doing private research to see how much attention he gets?

And now how about some really serious stuff about my favorite family? Did no-one like my idea that Suri might have been brain-damaged by 24-four ante-natal white noise? Has anyone ever heard her talking, or seen her parents talking to her? What is all the special tuition about? Apart from Mr Cruise being batshit crazy.

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

The white-noise brain damage does make sense. The brain is a pattern recognizing machine. IF you know anything about cog sci, there's only two kinds of input - signal and noise. Signal is patterned, noise is not.

Think of a 640x480 b/w image of an elephant. It's clear, you can distinctly make out the form of the elephant, etc. If you create a program to add 'noise', it might place 100 pixels at random over the image, using a randomization function to determine if it places a black or a white pixel. Run it once, you'll still see the elephant, but there might be a few parts where it looks fuzzy or you can't quite make out where the tail is. Run it enough times, the whole image starts to look grainy. Eventually, the 'signal' is lost and all you have is random snow.

The brain is a pattern-recognizing machine. We detect patterns, and it forms synaptic connections representing those patterns. If no patterns are present, no (meaningful) connections will form. Imagine for a moment that you take two twin infants, at birth, and place one in a sensory deprivation tank. Make sure it has feeding tubes and waste tubes and such, and keep it at a comfortable temperate, so it can survive. Now go a year out. Which infant do you think will be 'smarter'?

Infants prefer complicated stimulus. If you hold two images in front of an infant, one of two squares of primary colors, and one of a large array of multicolored shapes, the infant will look at the more complicated image significantly more often (and for longer durations) than it will look at the simple image. The brain is a sponge that WANTS input.

White noise denies input. It is unpatterned, random, and contains no useful information.

I had never heard of people using white noise with infants. It's a retarded idea, from what I know. The study you mentioned backs that up with empirical evidence. If they did this to Suri, it may well have damaged her.

    edit - for those interest in a little more;
The reason the image of the elephant is said to be 'signal' is because it's statistically different from what we would get if we simply used an algorithm to produce an image with randomly placed pixels.

In encryption (which is not my area of expertise, and I'd wager a lot of people here know it much better than I do), signal and noise is also a key idea. The goal of encryption is to produce a string of data that appears random. Of course, with the right key, it becomes signal. And the ONLY way to produce a string of data that is uncrackable is to produce it randomly - which means there will be no signal in it at all. So any encrypted message is, theoretically, crackable. There's certain practicality concerns, and so on, and encryption does a damned good job of being 'good enough.' But you CANNOT hide real data in a truly random string; if the string contains signal, it will not be random.

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

If we can prove that she WAS brain-damaged by it, do you think we could have Tom Cruise charged with child abuse, and get Suri out of their custody?
  36. Herro Member

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

Lol, white noise = child abuse? Tell me how that one works out for you. If it was well established that blasting a kid with white noise will cause brain damage, yeah it's child abuse. But it's not established, and well accepted. So no, it's not child abuse. And before you start thinking about how to prove she's brain damaged, you should think about how to find out whether or not she has brain damage and how you could ascertain that said damage was caused by the white noise. Don't get ahead of yourself.
  37. Consensus Member

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

    What Herro said.

We can speculate, sure. But to prove something like that, we'd have to have access - and we aren't even gunna TRY to get access to suri, that'd just be creepy.

And child abuse is a very specific thing. Unwittingly doing things that are detrimental to a child's health and development isn't abuse. Even KNOWINGLY doing those things often isn't abuse (smoking during pregnancy?). Parents have rights, and we don't WANT the state telling everyone how to raise their kids.

White noise causing suri brain damage is a plausible hypothesis, but nothing more.

The comment you've taken issue with wasn't a troll. It was pointing out that your original comment was itself quite depraved. Let's hope no one else dies and no further corpses get to be picked over - whether "for the cause" or not.

Re: The Big Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes News Thread - Part the Second

Error: since you came from the Dome to stifle free speech maybe you could go back there.

It seems to be well established that over-exposure to white noise can cause a delay in the development of the auditory centres in the newborn, just like over-exposure to Horror can cause a delay in the development of a rational argument.

And Katie wore this pad through her pregnancy which emitted white noise, supposed to tranquillise the infant but loud enough to be bothering to other people near her. I could look it up but won't. Don't know either if Tom insisted but she wouldn't do something like that without his say-so and she doesn't seem to have any ideas of her own, poor kid. But she wouldn't be Mrs Cruise if she had. etc etc.

I asked a good question: has anyone ever heard Suri talk or seen her parents talking to her? Why is she isolated from other children except for the Beckham kids? Why does she not make friends in playgrounds? Why are her parents spending unreal sums of money to 'educate' a three-year old? Why was she not shown in public for the first six months of her life? etc etc.
