  1. The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of anons

YouTube - Scientology overreacts to a small group of anonymous

Sceintology overreacts against a small group of 16 anons PEACEFULLY protesting
Overall 6 squad cars turned up and two vans turned up. Apparently we were throwing water and harassing the churches members. This is not true. All the police has to do is look at the CCTV footage. We were told to leave because we didn't have a permit. I didn't even know we needed a permit to protest. I thought that everyone had a right to protest. The police sergeant involved told us that it was like protesting outside a mosque and against human rights because it was against a religion. we tried to tell him that scientology is NOT recognized as a religion by the British government but he told us to be quiet or he would take our details

There was no bottles of water thrown whatsoever. Not that I saw anyways, and I pretty much looked to their building all the time.

They also said to the police that we were following them or something, but we were not.

We should have had a permit though, but considering the amount of police that showed up, we should have been 300 spartans ready to storm the building. Total overreaction, fail fail fail.

Yup, as I said already, what a complete and utter fucking waste of the police's time- and resources. This really does infuriate me to no end. I do hope they get done for wasting police time once the CCTV footage has been checked out thoroughly.

Edit: Another point- how could you guys have been 'following' them if they weren't moving from the Dianetics Centre? This does make me laugh, how can you follow someone who isn't going anywhere?

More like the police totally over reacted, wtf?

Wow. I'd say that was, infact a completely over reaction. The female cop seems kind of rad, though. Haha.
  6. Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

    Jerky vid is jerky.
Couldn't understand half of what was going on.
All the same... WTF? How many police cars was that? That was hilarious.
Can you give us some sort of summery of what went on, because it was pretty cool, but the vid quality spolit it.

    Wow.

How many police cars were there? I counted at least five, not including the van. And what did they say you were doing, anyway? I can't imagine that many cars turning up for someone throwing bottles.
  9. Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

lul sorry about that but i have to compress the video from like 800 megs (7.2 million pixels) to like 50 so a lot of quality is lost

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

As much as I agree that the whole thing is complete and utter bollocks, but it was also VERY foolish of Anon to hang around outside the building in such small numbers. You should have known this is what they do and will try to do to you and make up all the crap about the bottle throwing, it's stupid enough to dance passed the building rickrolling them let alone to hang around, I'm disappointed :(

What kind of faggotry is this? That was a completely over the top reaction. "Throwing waterbottles and chasing them around with masks?" They are so full of shit.

This is why you need to document everything.
  12. Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

well on april 5th it was fine but we had a permit (i think) anyways on april 5th we were outside the tcr scientology building and it was fine. there were even cops watching us at the time. it was worse this time because the scifags accused us of trying to harm (which i don't think they did last time) them and we also didn't notify the police.

Present footage to police, pursue a bureaucratic follow-up, demand that CCTV footage be examined.

Co$ needs to be held accountable for wasting taxpayer resources. The sooner word circulates in the police department that Co$ treats them like gullible idiots, the sooner the cult will learn to shut up.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

This is slightly worrying, i had always thought of the English police being fairly tolerant towards these kind of things but if incidents such as what happened in this video become a regular occurrence. I could imagine the police getting tired of dealing with anonymous and starting to take the side of co$ thinking were simply pestering them for no good reason.

OR i could me completely wrong and they will look over the CCTV see that nothing happened and have words with the scilons for wasting there time.

btw did you give the police any fliers so they can see what it was all about?

pd says get permission. so get it.
u are smarter so use ur cams from now on.
explain fairgame to pd so they will know the cult they are dealing with.
  16. Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

no we didn't. we tried to tell the sergeant what our aims were but he threatened to take all our names and addresses:frustration:

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

Oh lame... He was probably trying to move you along to stop some sort of commotion from breaking out.

the group should ask if they could move away from the cult building and talk without the peeping eyes of the Scientology's putting the police under pressure to arrest anonymous.

some one has probably suggested this already... but print outs of your rights should be given to the police to notify them it is within your rights to protest...and also some documents proving that it is not classed as a religion in England would be good to.

But if i was there i would of shat bricks seeing many Police cars... i would of thought i was going to get nicked!

Thanks for going up for lulz. Very good plan as mentioned about to have documentation with you that Scientology and Dianetics are not recognized as religions in Britain. Good work on enturbulating, follow up on that CCTV report, follow the law on demonstrating and stay safe.

Geez, I hope the police check those tapes and send a fine to the org for calling in so many cars on a bullshit allegation. They were clearly very peaceful and non-threatening, and you don't need six squad cars and two vans to talk to them.
  21. Danilov Member

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

WOW! I counted something like a dozen police cars... and the two vans to boot.

This is probably the biggest overreaction we've seen since the Dekalb (Atlanta) police whipped out the riot squad and choppers.

Keeping my fingers crossed that this makes the papers.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

You know what, why tip toe around the whole deal?

They claimed false charges. That's an offense. They called the police to break up your organization by lying to them and saying you threw water bottles and chased them around when you can get collaborating witnesses (the businesses) and video to prove otherwise. They have a history of doing this kind of thing in the UK and getting punished for doing so.

Show this evidence and try to get the police to pursue cases of false claims by CoS.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

Plus, the policewoman said that they had everything on CCTV, so it would be a simple matter of reviewing tape to find no evidence of wrongdoing, and then filing counter-charges against the OrgFag who made the originating call/charges.

Whoa, that was sort of mind-boggling. Definitely go to the police and find out if you can get them for overreaction. Crazy! How do six squad cars and two vans get called out for sixteen protesters? Especially with CCTV footage?

Interesting that the police were asking if this was ongoing... Good to find out if they'll have problems with Anons showing up on weekends, as seems to be likely?

Good job on seeming totally rational and easy to deal with. I'm sure the cops arrived thinking "Holy shit, masks? This is going to be weird..." and were pleasantly surprised.

What did you do after you left the Scilons? Did you roam and leaflet?

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

As a general note, irrespective of "rights," once you've confirmed the situation with the police for the future. e.g. how many people without a permit is an issue? If you simply stand with signs is that the same as handing out fliers etc. etc.

Negotiate with them, don't demand. I'm not suggesting you'd do anything but, but the police have been awesome worldwide, and "demanding your rights" should be an absolute last resort. There's give and take on both sides, and in fairness to the police on this occasion, I'd be surprised if they realised that both Co$ London are commercial premises, or that Co$ have a history longer than my cock of crying wolf with a stream of pure BS. As long as we keep them informed and are doing what we're doing sensibly and responsibly I don't see that they should have any great issue.

Not a lawfag, but UK Co$ orgs are commercial premises (possibly based on their classification under the town and country planning act, but not sure). Irrespective, of whether this really should have an effect on our right to protest them, I know for a fact, that it has been one factor that UK Pol have taken into consideration when evaluating the impact of the protests. It may not have formal legal standing, but the police are rightly sensitive about issues they perceive to be religious.

On that note, letting them know that Co$ isn't "recognized as a church" by the UK, the US, Germany and many many other countries (contrary to the "church's" claims) and that the status they do have (as either a corporation or charitable organization depending on country) should not be a license for them to commit fraud, stalk and intimidate those who criticise them, frame people with self-manufactured bomb threats, practice medicine without a license, con the public by consistently lying to them, engage in espionage, blah blah blah. WHICH IS WHAT AND WHY WE'RE PROTESTING.

Basically as said keep it polite, and ensure they know you're contacting them to avoid their time being wasted in the future. This is especially important given Co$'s penchant for framing/staging/lying about "crimes". Let them know the score, and you'll hopefully be able to get a bit of two way discussion going, so that they end up informed, but also give you some advice so next time Co$ screams blue murder, they may actually have enough info to be able to do something about it.

More than anyone they don't take kindly to being dicked around over bullshit claims, so supplying them with a copy of Hubbard's network order 15(?) where he gives instructions about how to manipulate law enforcement to become Scientology's tool, together with some of the documented cases where they've done this, would no doubt be of interest and use to them.

The Met are pretty up to speed on the Anonymous protests, but don't assume that they have an intimate working knowledge of Co$ policies and practice.

Nice bit of copypasta you might want to have to hand too:

Kenneth Robinson, former British Minister of Health:

"The government is satisfied that Scientology is socially harmful. It alienates members of families from each other and attributes squalid and disgraceful motives to all who oppose it; its authoritarian principles and practice are a potential menace to the personality and well being of those so deluded as to become followers; above all, its methods can be a serious danger to the health of those who submit to them... There is no power under existing law to prohibit the practice of Scientology; but the government has concluded that it is so objectionable that it would be right to take all steps within its power to curb its growth."

Aye, the cops may have overreacted... but their just victims of the con.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

It could be worthwhile to have someone go in over the next week and talk in detail with the local police, to bring up all of these points. Rather than phoning in, I mean, which is useful but might be brushed off more easily. Face-to-face might be more reassuring.

As a bonus, you could hand over examples of all the leaflets, so the police have time to go over them and really realise that Anons aren't the enemy.

But really, it's sort of an opportunity that this happened, as Anon's not giving up and now the Co$ have burned a bridge with the Met. Take advantage!

Air the dirty laundry I say, bring this to the press, make this a police over-reaction issue
    Email title:
    Welcome to 1790,
London police used as a tool to further religious agendas

London Police swallows "church" of scientology's claims that
it is a religion, despite contary evidence
and suppresses the free speech of anonymous individuals.

Edit: Caveat; I mean raise a stink in a, "Its horrible! How could you do such a thing!"
I draw the line, when individuals operating under the banner of the law, take it upon themselves to act ABOVE THE LAW.
In this case, lie, exaggerate and deceive.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

    No, it's not.

Firstly: That was City of London Police, the officers who deal with TCR Org are from the Metropolitan Police.

Secondly: This investigation did result in the disciplining of several officers some time ago. The City Police are very keen not to be involved with the CoS, having spoken to some of their officers at the last demo, they were pretty pissed off that the "Church" had tried to bribe them.

I don't think this was anything more than a jobsworth copper trying to get something out of having to commit significant police resources to a non-situation. If you protest something long enough, you will run into these types from time to time. It's largely best just to move on, rather than let the scis get footage of you being V& for their next hate crimes video.

    So......

..........What exactly are you doing about this?

Seriously if I was one of those protesters I'd be down at the station with whatever video footage I could lay my hands on demanding an explanation and pushing for charges for wasting police time.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

    First off, great job!

But if they had any "official" CCTV (manned by either the police themselves or some kind of security firm/city worker) in the area the initial call for help from the org would have been forwarded to them to check it out before commiting any police to the situation so it can be safely assumed that if they do end up checking CCTV it'l be from the surrounding shops and probably awful quality with half the anons out of frame so dont expect conclusive results there but deffinately give it a go, maybe even go into the surrounding shops, explain who you are and ask if you can see the tapes (that way you can find out if the police have botherd checking them).

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

As mentioned in the other thread (why are there two, btw?) maybe you should try and get a Data Protection Request on the CCTV video. When it shows no water-throwing or threatening action of any kind take it to the Met and get Scientology a rap on the knuckles. This is a job for the people on the raid really, but would definitely score us a win.

Re: The Church of Scientology in London completely overreacts to a small group of ano

While we have the issue, I'm going to quickly explain to americanfags (and anyothers) how our police in London work.

Basically, the metropolitan police cover the entire area of London. They're known for being quite unreasonable in some situations.
City Police are actually a "privately owned" force. They're commisioned by City Of London Council, which covers the square mile of Londons "City Financial" area. They have all the same powers as the Met, they're just a lot nicer, and are willing to explain what's happening.
