The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Several people have been contacting county and state officials about the grading at Gold Base. As of yesterday, there are still NO permits on file for this work. Last week: Now we're in the middle of the first significant winter storm, with two more on the way down from the north. Bringing heavy rain to SoCal, mudslides, meteorological mayhem. So, the intrepid AO went out to Gold in it to photograph the grading. He reports streams of mud-laden water encroaching on Gilman Hot Springs Road. He reported fairly light rain last night, but that area is volatile as far as runoff goes. It's a desert, and flashfloods are common in desert environments. Ask anyone who's camped in a gully. Oh, you can't. They drown. Note the roll of papers in her grubby paw. Was she summoned there to 'splain herself, or try to weasel a retroactive permit out of the county? Link to the simple permit procedure graphic given out by Riverside County: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IZYXGWDQ I am positive that this whole thing is a tactic to get the highway closed in favor of an alternate route that will bypass Gold, and give them what they want; the ability to do whatever the fuck they want to do without public scrutiny to the people unfortunate enough to be held there. Two more storms on the way. This could be entertaining, particularly if there are accidents caused by Gold Base drooling mud all over the highway. Negligence, a disregard for public safety, actions that expose their "concern" for traffic and protesters as lies. Pray for rain in Riverside, faggots!
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Thanks Barb! good stuff Like I said.... COS says this hwy is not safe. what COS forgets to mention, is that it is not safe BECAUSE of them.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Looks to me they are grading and trenching to lay drainage tile. Was that Murial submitting drawings and sow (scope of work)? Is it possible we could get to see a copy of them, now that their public? Then we can know for sure what it is they are trying to do?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold That's a good point. We don't know exactly why they're grading the area, but it is a flood plain and doesn't need Scientology's help. AO was told by a foreman that it's to be a sewage treatment pond. Odd, as they have some on the other side of Golden Era Productions that people muck out by hand. With fewer staff at Gold, why would they need such a thing? If this is the plan, it means that Golden Era Productions will be surrounded by a ring of shit. Inadvertent truth in advertising, I'm sure.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold I guess she is getting a permit because they own that area ? Or are they working on an area that they don't own ?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold I guess you missed the part where it was CLEARLY stated that there are no permits on file.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Whether they own it or not is presumably irrelevant, as work permits and certain permissions are still required?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold No, I assumed she was there with a roll of papers in her paw so she could get things up to code. And getting a permit would be part of that. But more importantly I wanted to ask if that area of land was owned by them, just in case they are trying to squat on it or something similar, because then they would be vandals and Jeff Stone hates vandals.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold They own part of that land, yes. I can't tell from AO's pix the extent of the grading. Need aerial view. As you know, property lines there were well defined following our little "incident" with security guards last year. Surveys show where the boundaries are. However, the reason the open space north of Golden Era hasn't been developed is due to the floodplain designation. I checked a survey map, and the graded area does fall within the floodplain. Different laws apply to such areas. Personally, I suspect Muriel was hauled in there to explain wtf the cult was doing, grading without permits. I am hopeful that, despite Jeff Stone's cozy relationship with Scientology, the days of them doing whatever the hell they feel like without regard to laws and permits might be coming to an end.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold My understanding is that they don't own the part in red. (unconfirmed) But am told that if they had their way regarding higway 79 they would gain (or at least restrict access to) the red area. Can you shed anyl light on if this is the same area ?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold LOL, sorry. Can you provide a bigger picture? I understand that the cult wants to close Gilman Springs Road from State St. in Hemet to the I-10 onramp north of Gold. This would certainly restrict access to everything on either side of GSR, including the boom of strip malls, fast food joints and other businesses that have sprung up in the past 15 years along that route. It would also close access to the Soboba tribe's casino on Soboba Mountain Rd. and the thousands of homes now built there.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Possibly. I'd need more landmarks, like I-10 to the north. I can't tell where that is from this map. Gold Base is roughly between Soboba Mountain Rd. and the I-10. The area in question is just north of Golden Era Productions.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Ya, that pic is all I have other than google maps. Gilman springs road San Jacinto - Google Maps But I don't even know if the info I have is right, or where anything is.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold So...If Hwy 79 gets buried in mud after the coming rains due to this grading, will the county be billing Gold for cleaning up the mess?? Also, has anyone let the EPA and/or state equivelant know about this work being done without an Enviromental Impact Study? BigBeard
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Are these required when doing work like this in the state of California? According to the OP the cult has filed documents regarding this work. Now that their public can someone possibly obtain a copy? If we are to harpoon the EPA having dox would help.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold ^^THIS... when township/county working stiffs fail to do their job, there's nothing quite like bringing in the state/fed agencies to make 'em feel the heat.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold An Enviromental Impact Study, or EPA approved state equivelant, is required BEFORE any work such as this begins in a desert floodplain area. It's required to get the construction permit for such work. Somehow I don't think that happened in this case. And heavy fines are involved if it didn't. BigBeard
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Normally I find these "ftfy" gags to be foolish and generally unfunny. But in this case I simply could not resist the temptation.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold This makes me very happy in my pants. It does not surprise me though to find the cult abusing the environment. It needs to stop.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold ftfy Normally I find cult shills/apologists foolish and generally unfunny. But in this case I simply could not resist the temptation.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Mentioned in the "Officially request closure" thread, but in case it gets missed: The California Office of Traffic Safety rep for the Riverside County area is: Kevin Yokoi (916) 509-3024 kyokoi@ots.ca.gov Someone local may want to inquire if he's interested in the potential mud bath for Hwy 79 due to this construction. Even when there is a permit, aren't some type of retaining barriers required to keep that from happening? BigBeard
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold There probably is, however I think the EPA route is the way to go. I understand that California is strict on environmental issues. I doubt that Riverside will do much as their history shows that they usually ignore what the cult is doing.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold here are the photos that Mr. AO sent to me 2009_Nov16_GoldBaseRaid_IllegalGradingPics pictures by RonRules - Photobucket 2009_Nov30_GoldBaseIllegalGrading pictures by RonRules - Photobucket
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Holy shit they are right up to the edge of the highway. THIS is NOT part of their property.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Interesting update: AO went to the BOS meeting and found the door closed and a notice that they were having a code enforcement meeting, closed to the public. Muriel DuFresne was still hanging about. Did she spend the friggin night there? Probably warmer than sleeping under her desk, I would imagine. What's interesting is the time usually spent hearing public comments is being used for a sooper seekrit code enforcement meeting. I wonder if a certain cult without certain permits on a certain floodplain is the topic du jour?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold One can hope! Also hope they aren't trying to pull a 'retroactive' permit okay without the required impact studies being done. BigBeard
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold What was the official judgment on that? Was the cult fined? As far as the closed door meeting, can its minutes be obtained through the freedom of information act?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold As to the meeting, do not know. The fence issue solved itself when, one dark night, the cult had its slave navy move the whole fence back off public easement onto cult property. They'd been trying to get the county to allow the encroachment since before I first raided there.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Barb thanks for this. This is juicy. If a retro permit is pulled, then it will show further cozy-ness with COS. And what about the issue of them not using water when they were grading?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold We need a copy of their permit application with attached drawings. I guess the thought they didn't need water as it was going to rain. Thought it would save them money I guess. I guess they thought we wouldn't notice either what they were doing. I guess they were wrong.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Also.... will there ever be any charges or fines for the ir sprinkler tech and the lighting of that flare the day AO was tackled? If not, why. Anyone else would have been fined on those restricted days.
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold it doesn't matter if maybe they thought it was going to rain. Water has to be used WHILE grading to keep the dust down, doesn't it?
Re: The Rain and Illegal Grading at Gold Yeah I know, I was trying to be sarcastic. Sarcasm in written words is difficult. of course they should of used water, as well as obtained the necessary permits and environmental assessments.
