Viele Jungkarrieristen üben freies Sprechen bei den Toastmasters. Vielleicht durch WISE unterwandert? Das wäre ein ziemlicher Hammer.

Wenn es wie Elchscheisse riecht, so dampft und sich auch noch so anfühlt, sollte man nicht dran lecken.

Klar sind die Toastmaster per se nicht Scilon. Eine ihrer in sich internationalen Gruppen, die Renaissance Speaker sind jedoch ganz klar Scilon(s.o.). Toastmaster beherbergt interessante Klientel für Scilons und bietet nicht- oder halböffentliche Kommunikationskanäle über die sie ungestört ihre Werbung lancieren können. Die Mitglieder sind international und viele Karrieristen (die man prima abzocken kann). Das Statement der Münchener Toastmasters ist überhaupt KEIN Dementi. Es stinkt nach Scilon.
Wie angedeutet, dass Scilons in dem Laden sind, wundert mich nicht. Deine Ausführungen sind stimmig, da findet sich bestimmt viel "raw meat" auf Toast und das kann man frühstücken. Das Statement stinkt für mich auch nach üblichem "Finde für Dich selbst heraus" - Bullshit der SO. Dass man solche Formulierungen nutzt, ist merkwürdig. Nur sollte man nicht glauben, dass Toasterkram gleich Scilon ist. Oder sowas verbreiten, das wäre ein Schuss in den Fuß.
Wenn einer Lust hat, kann er ja mit einer geeigneten Mailadresse nachfragen, was das soll. Imho verdächtige Formulierung kann man ruhig nachhaken.
Also Toastmaster in Richtung Scientology zu stellen, heißt für mich über etwas zu sprechen, was man nicht kennt. Oder einfach nur böse Gerüchte zu streuen. Die Lüge ist schon dreimal um die Welt bis die Wahrheit sich die Schuhe angezogen hat. Toastmasters International ist eine 1924 in den USA von Ralph Smedley gegründete Non-Profit-Organisation zur Förderung der Kunst des öffentlichen Redens, der effektiven Kommunikation sowie der Menschenführung. Toastmasters organisieren sich weltweit in etwa 12.500 Clubs in rund 106 Ländern der Erde mit etwa 250.000 aktiven Mitgliedern. Toastmasters International ist in den USA als gemeinnützig anerkannt, die Club-Vorstände und andere engagierte Mitglieder sind ausschließlich ehrenamtlich und unentgeltlich tätig. Der Jahresbeitrag beträgt derzeit bei uns im Club 90 Euro und was Scientologen bezahlen um clear zu werden, kann jeder im Internet nachrecherchieren. Es mag sein, dass es auch Scientologen gibt, die sich in Rhetorik bei Toastmasters gebildet haben, aber dies zu verbieten, spräche sicher gegen die Statuten. Das es einzelne Mitglieder gibt, die versuchen ihre Dienstleistungen zu vermitteln sehe ich als legitim. Bei 12.500 Clubs kann es schon sein, dass da Scientologen auch Führungspositionen versuchen zu erreichen, aber dies kann man ja Toastmasters nicht vorwerfen, dass ist ja die Strategie der Scientologen, gewisse Schaltstellen innezuhaben. Mir hat Toastmaster sehr geholfen. Mit Scientology habe ich was weder am noch in meinem Hut. EDIT to add - according to comments on ESMB this is not your normal Toastmasters group, but the "Renaissance Speakers" affiliate that meets at the Celeb Centre and is only open to scilons.
Small derail seeking some clarity, is toastmasters as a whole a Scientology enterprise, or is it just some groups that have been infiltrated?
The last comment is a year old, but I want to add what I experienced in a TM club in germany: I got two handbooks at the beginning (you have to buy them for 20 €). In the foreword of the books are some phrases that alarmed me. My handbooks are in german, so I cite the passages in german: "Es ist die Mission von Toastmasters International die Selbstverwirklichung und persönliches Wachstum zu fördern, das Führungspotenzial zu optimieren und zur Verbesserung der Menschheit (sic!) beizutragen. Grundlegend für diese Mission ist, (...) das globale Netzwerk von Clubs kontinuierlich zu erweitern, damit immer mehr Menschen Gelegenheit haben, von den Programmen zu profitieren." Als Mitglied musst du einen Vertrag unterschreiben, indem du dich u.a. dazu verpflichtest dem Club zu "dienen" und "höchste ethische Standards einzuhalten". It is pity that you made such a bad experience. The h whole system is very americanic and strange for us- like many other habits f different cultures, nations. I ve been a tm for some years now and served the club and more. It is a smart system that needs vounteers to allw for a membershp of 90€. Ethical standards help to come around very well and miesepeter, egoistic people do not lead to an atmisphere that supports humor and trust to try ut things and progress. It is nit true that the total manuals will sent to tmi to get recognition. Just date and name of speeches. If you do an american toefl language exam - everything is sent in. It is also not standard that the mentor is meeting you at home. Can be done like this, it is not aneed oblogations. That person might like to have you in your cosy atmosohere, likd you or be curious. Just tell them you do not like it, they will respect it. Mentor and mentee should have the same mindset and goal to belp your progress. It helps tk be a better speaker faster. That is the ony idea! I have never heard somebkdy speakjng about sci, nor is business not very well seen in tmi as it destrkys the atmosphere.
