Well done Adam.
It's going to be some sort of private detention center akin to RPF, isn't it? Those sly bastards.
So it's basically Gold Base with a mountain town hotel attached to it.
How many people are they expecting to be there at one place? And how many safety measures are they going to cut to build this thing?
No way are there enough canadian scilons with the dough to pay for OT levels to fill this place up. Not with the pressure to pay for idle orgz across Canada.
Resort to become Scientology retreat March 9, 2011, Richard Vivian, Orangeville Banner
We got to inform the people living there. They have to know about the nature of the organization.
And how would Flag, AOLA, maybe the Freewinds react to losing their revenue from Canadian scilons?
There's craziness where the Freewinds offers lower level stuff, Flag has stuff that was Freewinds-only. They're already trying to keep the stats up by eating each other.
I hope Councillor Fred Nix responds better than Jeff Stone and the board of supes when allegations of mistreatment and abuse are raised. Also chaps, what's the laws on security spikes up there? They are a proven hazard to wildlife, yanno.
Also, keep in mind that Toronto is not one of the upstat orgs. It is not in affluence. So where's the money coming from to buy this thing and maintain it? Could this be San Diego Part Deux?
1. Rich Scilons 'help out' to buy property
2. Property gets signed over to RTC
3. Expenses soar, place gets shabby
4. Property goes on the market again
5. Profit goes to RTC, leaving Toronto broke and resortless.
A hazard to wildlife in an Escarpment Protection Area? Ha ha, they would be sooo screwed!
The first sign that they were going to button up would be to close the Bruce Trail running through the property, but they haven't informed the Bruce Trail Conservancy of any changes yet. (Closing the trail would be very bad for them politically, and probably cost them a lot of points with the Escarpment Commission when they submit their next Development Permit request.)
A deer was once skewered by the security spikes at Gold Base. I imagine up there, the hooved rats are very common.
Barb, the deer "pulled it in".
Mono council to hear from Scientologists
The Orangeville Banner. 28th March 2011
In otherwords, scientologists are putting together a promo whitewash and are going lie to ignorant councillors about "promoting human rights", "anti-drug education and rehab programs", saving the world with yellow-jacketed "disaster response" volunteer ministers, blah-b-blah-bullshit-blah. The local officials will go "Ooooooo" at the glossy brochures and snazzily edited DVD eye-candy presentation, and not a critical word will be heard.
Is there any chance that any local critics can get the fuck in there and lay down some reality for the Niagra Escarpment Comission?
Looks like the planner for that section is:
tel: (905) 877-8538
This is the Mono Township council, not the Escarpment Commission (which is an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources).
I know. It says in the article ....
OSA have appeared on the scene. Any info on JeannieB / Jeanne Basoon?
In person, or in story comments?
The council meeting mentioned in the article is most likely:
April 12 6:00 p.m
347209 Mono Centre Road (Dufferin County Road #8), R.R.#1
No agenda published for the meeting yet but it is probably the right one as. "Due to a delegation, the meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m."
Additionally, "Council provides an opportunity for questions from the public at the start of each regular Council meeting." It therefore seems that if any public were to show up, they would get to talk before CoS gets to do their 10 minute presentation.
Finally, "The Chairperson will ensure that the meeting is conducted in a manner sensitive to the opinions of others, and away from any personal attacks or demeaning commentary." So if public raised any purely factual issues and the CoS responds with dead agenting the Chair can cut off their presentation.
Orangeville Citizen weighs in on the counil meeting. Adam and Nan MacLean spoke, yeay!
Ha! A typical Scientology lie dressed up as truth:
While it is true that they will be living in Mono (at the org), they'll rarely been seen in the community. (Probably much the same rules as Gold/Int Base.)
Let them know about Gold Base trying to close down a whole fucking highway. We all know those trails will be closed to the public as soon as they move onto the property. I predict!
1) Demonstrate with Super Power project how LOOOOONNNNGGGG any construction project there will probably be. Be sure to put completion deadlines with heavy penalties in place.
2) They do NOT like visitors, as the attempt to close Highway 79 through Gold property indicates. Mention the 100 security cameras and guards in Clearwater, clearly indicating paranoia on the part of the organization. So that trail should be IN WRITING made to be kept open.
Maybe not. Maybe they'll offer stress-tests and touch-assists to hikers?
Note the 'waffle' by Ms. Ilasi at the meeting concerning completion dates:
Mabye the council and the NEC should get some hard facts regarding not just the SP building, but all the other buildings Cof$ purchased and has allowed to stand dormant and falling apart afterwards. Off the top of my head, a certain building in the UK with a hole in the roof and concerns about bats comes to mind, among others.
