I heard scientology once said something like "Next they'll be attacking other religions" no dox just heard it on a forum. I wonder if Scientology is stupid enough to defend the WBC, which is a religious group whom members of anonymous have targeted.

Re: Westboro Baptist Church Let us hope they lose their Supreme Court case. If the WBC loses, they are finished. All of their homes, all of their property, right down to their signs, are gone. The father will get every bit of it. There are already liens on all of the property. You know as soon as the court renders its decision, they'll seize it all to satisfy the judgement. I hope he makes a large bonfire to burn all of the signs and literature.

Re: Westboro Baptist Church Unfortunately, OTBT is right here. Its dangerous to start dis-allowing free speech based on how popular or unpopular it is. The government can't step in and deny them that right. That doesn't mean I personally can't punch one of them in the mouth, which is what I'm inclined to do every time I hear about them. Not that I would, because that'd just help their case, but they do make me very, very angry.

Re: Westboro Baptist Church WBC came to protest a soldier's funeral in Weston, MO this weekend. The soldier was ambushed early in October in Afghanistan, and died October 24, 2010. Approximately half of Weston, MO plus others from nearby communities showed up to tell the WBC to GTFO. They made a human shield blocking WBC from any access to the funeral home. Citizens took up all the parking spots, so the WBC had to park far away. Protesters stood on the corner that the WBC protest permit listed. California and Australia even came to protest. It is about the intentional infliction of emotional harm upon the family and friends of someone who made the supreme sacrifice for us. If it was a free speech case, they could protest in another spot. But no, they do it just feet from the family and friends, without any respect. They deserve to lose, and lose big time.

Re: Westboro Baptist Church This is dangerous. Free speech doesn't care about people's emotions. Free speech doesn't care about people's sacrifices. Free speech needs to be allowed to offend in every way, shape, or form. I mean, think about it.... you don't think it offends Scientologists when we stand outside their churches and call them a cult, say that they're brainwashed, and tell people they're crazy? There are some Scientologists who really believe that they're doing the right thing, and its probably hurtful to them to hear us say those things. Now, the difference here is that there's no way to prove what WBC is saying (short of asking God directly, and that's a bit difficult), and what we're saying is true. However, if you cut free speech short at 'emotionally hurting someone' we'd be done too.
