What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines I have collected well over 1000 Scn magazines over the years. The mags were mostly collected for the Scn stats and completions project that Kristi Wachter and I have worked on for the past 7 or 8 years. http://www.truthaboutscientology.com/stats/index.html I have 2 full file cabinets full of Scn Mags. I have them organized in chronological order for each Mag. I want to get rid of them and give them to someone(s) who will actually do something useful with them. I will still be collecting NEW Scn Mags so that we can keep the TruthaboutScientology site updated, but I'm never going to have the time or energy to work on my dream magazine project. What I had always wanted to do, was scan and index all the mags. The completion lists are awesome and really help critics identify Scios who do something spectacularly stupid or illegal. But to have all the magazines scanned and index would be a monsterous data base that would allow you access to all kinds of info on Scios and their activities in Scn. They would be the dox needed by researchers, media people, attorneys, bloggers etc. The indexing needs only to be keywords, names, and a few words of what's on each page. I'm sure you computer geeks can figure out a way to input the info so that it spit out a huge data base of usable information. Here's an example of what I mean. Index: Impact Magazine Issue 116 Summer 2007 Cover: Photo: DM IAS Event Index: Impact Magazine Issue 116 Summer 2007 Page: 97, Photo: IAS Gold Meritorious, Travolta, Preston, DM Index: Impact Magazine Issue 116 Summer 2007 Page: 98, Photo: IAS Gold Meritorious, Novitsky, Wisner, DM Btw, Gold Meritorious is a One Million dollar donation to the IAS. Let me know what you think. Is anyone interested in these mags for a project like this or should I just box them up and send them to a university library that might be interested in them? Of course if you have a better idea on what to do with these mags, I'd be happy to listen.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines What should you do? Make a bonfire, burn them, and commence whooping and tribal dancing around it.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Make a shirt out of the covers? Seriously, shredders were made for this sort of problem...
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines It does seem like a waste of information to just recycle them...
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Pooks, I'd drop a line to Stephen Kent at the University of Alberta and see if he's got a line on someone who might want those mags. And, while I totally understand the lulz in shredding them, etc., these are the kinds of things that social scientists and historians LOVE for all sorts of obscure reasons. Particularly since they're NOT under the control of Scn itself. It's like the e-mails you post. All of that stuff has meaning and, particularly in this day and time, when Scn is under so much pressure, what goes out in the mags and the e-mails is important for what it tells us about what's going on inside. I'm reminded of some research a close friend wanted to do on another well-known, controlling religious organization based in the American Intermountain West. While he could have gone to the organization's headquarters and probably gotten the data directly, there were conditions. And the conditions were basically that if the organization didn't like the results of his research, the paper could be suppressed. Rather, my friend chose to spend weeks reviewing microfilms of an organizational publication at the public library to get the data. While it was a pain in the ass, the conditions were that he didn't have to suffer under pre-publication censorship. *That*, my friends, is why having this stuff available is so very, very important.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Look for a university with a religious studies department or such that would like to have them. Let them know that they need to be made secure, though. Otherwise they will gradually disappear. If the university says they'll use them and keep them safe, that's where I'd donate them.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines There are quite a few people who will pay for these collectables. I being one of them. I'm not uber rich, but definitely interested. Got my basics sets (first editions and the 2007's, lol), got my how to choose your people, all about radiation, etc. Probably many others here too. Yes, you can call me a turd collector.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines I wish, I wish I could read the WISE Magazines - "Prosperity".
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Must keep. I can't do it but someone should analyse completions over a long enough period to even out varying publication intervals, to get a real idea of the volume going through. Currently it seems to be going up, but how does it compare with last year this time? Or is this an artefact of different time-spans? I would offer very small bribe to interested academic or similar provided s/he publishes on-line in accessible format.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Yes, Dr. Stephen Kent loves this stuff to add to the collection at the U.

Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines They should of course be indexed and archived. Scientology babble does more good out in the light of public scutiny than it does in a bonfire.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Pull one of these numbers on them: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xG-swkL0s7M"]YouTube- Marcus VS Hp deskjet[/ame] Just kidding. Some people, somewhere, will surely want them.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines roll 'em up into a joint using any page that has a picture of the dwarf
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines This. Please make sure they are scanned cover to cover and archived in multiple places before you let them out of your hands.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Personally, I'd give them to the guys who run Xenu.net. There's probably a ton of absolute gold in there for someone who runs a critical website.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines pooks - if all else fails, and no Uni wants em, worse case scenario - I'll come get 'em off your hands and store 'em until we do find a good home for 'em. and as both a databasefag & a researchfag, you can rest assured I'll atleast put 'em to some minimal use before passing 'em on to a permanent institutional home.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Do you know this? It would be cool if he did. Alternatively, we could make a large papier-mâché rabbit....
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines These would be great in a database. Sort of like Google Books for Scillons. However could the CoS sue for DMCA claims?
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Oh dear. Looks like you're better off burning them.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines make PDF Burn them Distribute PDF Burn PDF Burn anyone with the PDF Burn their ashes.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Make scans for future use, then burn the magazines.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Use it for charitable causes. Donate to local org for toilet paper
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines shit is cash but reminds me of: "What do you do with 365 used condoms?" "Melt 'em down into a tire and call it a 'good year'"
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Yes you deserve them They should but the pics should be scanned for SHOOPAGE
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines that facial expression is just begging to be used in shoops dwarfmongler, pedo smile, etc.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Graham Berry or Dr Kent might place value in having these, Pooks.
Re: What should I do with over 1000 Scn Magazines Suggestion – have a whip round for decent document scanner and guillotine for Pooks? Think about it. With decent equipment, featuring a good document feeder, 1,000 or so magazines shouldn’t be that hard to get scanned in a reasonable timeframe. So Pooks gets a decent scanner out of the deal and we get a cavalcade of dox into a useful format for researchfags. Y/N?
