Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

How much does it cost to advertise on Youtube.com?

    • YouTube General: $50K or greater spend on YouTube within 90 days.
    • YouTube Brand Channels: $200K or greater spend on YouTube only.
    • YouTube Contests: $500K or greater spend on YouTube only.
    • YouTube Homepage Roadblock: $175K/day flat fee plus a $50K incremental spend on Google and YouTube over 90 days ($225K or greater total spend). Premium flight dates may require a higher initial flat fee.
According to my calculations, the Church of Scientology is spending, about US$6.97 million PER MONTH to win the hearts and minds of Youtube subscribers and viewers.

Let's keep this up, gents and lasses
    :fuckyou:

    We're making L.RH :lrhcries: cry.

Not to mention the manpower OSA spends having their peons trolling on Youtube saying crap about how they loooves Scientology and all to any anti-Scientology stuff.

We ARE hurting them by FORCING them to do that :)

Also, if that Aussie billionaire turns on them, they are screwed.

Factor in their Google-search ads, Facebook and Myspace ads and it's a huge sum...they are enraged over Anon and hemorrhaging bullion in an attempt to own the internets. Let em.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

So, ok, it is kinda obvious why Youtube keeps following orders from CoS...

But , someday they will realize that CoS is paying them BECAUSE OF US!!
    (they owe us biiiiiigtime!!)

    Are you freaking kidding me?
    Is it really that much?

Think of all the people they could have provided food for, think of all the shelters for people that could have been built (habitat for humanity or something) think of all the actual good they could have done with that money...

think about how they could have given staff and OSA huge pay raises and made their lives a little bit better than one 'luxurious' jack in the box meal per month.

The first $ci respons would be: "Contact Clearwater, we don't handle the bills."

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Molly has a point that maybe needs to be made on signage: What kind of a church spends 6 million dollars a month to advertise on Youtube? And why?

Few things piss John Q Public off more than stupid money being spent stupidly.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Superb post. Over time these costs add up.

If COS is forced to run the ads as a matter of course, that effectively ups their overhead.

Let's keep up the pressure and escalate this further.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Here: How much does it cost to advertise on Youtube?

    • YouTube General: $16,667++ p.m.
    • YouTube Brand Channels: $200K One time payment
    • YouTube Homepage Roadblock: $6.75 million++ p.m.
According to the link, rates are billable every 90 days.
Therefore, Church of Scientology, come July, will be getting a very nice bill of at least:
    US$20,300,000.00 plus taxes

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Silly Scientologists don't understand how the internets work. The cost effectiveness of their campaign is hilarious, for us at least. Think about our protests. We spend what, a couple hundred at most per protest? Anyone out there care to do a ratio of (dollars they spend)/(dollars we spend)?

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

I am sure with that full package the cult gets a price break, however even if it was only two million a month, a 3rd of the above estimate, it is amazing.

wasting all that money to trample free speech.
just think of the good they could do if thats what they were about.

Is it really true? I can't believe that they spend soooooooo much money on this. But if it's true, I am very happy about it. :D

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

In 1995, IIRC, Co$ had a yearly income of $300 million, plus roughly $318 million in real estate.

So Anonymous has forced them to chip off about $81 million/year, already, or a bit less than a third of their income, plus lost income from people who are blowing, from days they have shut the orgs down, from court fees and PIs...

Suddenly Graham Berry's figure that Co$ income is down 50% in April doesn't seem ludicrous. Holy shit we're badass.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Why don't you give us the sauce of these figures?
  31. Spork Member

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

If that's roughly right, COS spending increase on online advertising is a major development.

To be sure Anonymous will have to keep fighting the propaganda war online, for fear the barrage of COS ads might actually work.

However given the economics of the situation Anon only needs to play for a draw.

So long as criticism online continues effectively to neutralize COS propaganda piece for piece, Anon comes out ahead.

Inevitably COS advertising will result in some extra revenue from the new recruits that ads attract. Let's all keep up the pressure to minimize this effect and ensure it's negative gain overall for the COS!

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

How come my calculations are only 250K?
    How you got to 6mil???

They had ads for 3 months 50K(now gone).
    Plus now the channel 200K.
    50 + 200 = 250K
  35. avatar2008 Member

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Look closer... Its (175K + 50K) ++ PER DAY, Youtube doesn't shut down so for everyday you see "Get the Facts" its

    • 30 days x (175+50) = 6,750K
And this does not even factor the in the click-through prices CoS is paying Youtube everytime somebody clicks through to see the CoS YT Channel.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Don't be so sure that YouTube is bleeding Scientology dry. YouTube gives a lot of benefits to groups with 501(c)(3) tax exemption, which Scientology has. As long as they say they won't talk about religion, and only stick to issues like human rights and drug abuse, they might be getting at least some of this stuff for free.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

    Quoting from the link:

    Program Requirements

Organizations applying for the Nonprofit program must meet the following criteria.

    * Must be U.S.-based nonprofit with IRS 501(c)(3) tax status
    * May not be religious or political in nature
    * May not be focused primarily on lobbying for political or policy change
    * Commercial organizations, credit-counseling services, donation middleman services, fee-based organizations, and nonprofit portals are not eligible for the program

You might be right, but it does say that the _organization applying_ may not be religious in nature, not the advertising message.

In any event, whether COS is getting its ads on the cheap or not, that doesn't make a difference so far as Anons are concerned (practically speaking). Either way the ads have to be countered somehow.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Did CoS had a roadblock on YouTube?
I never see any CoS roadblock.

Do you know what roadblock is?

    Example of roadblock:
Home page > banner says "I"
You click on some other page > banner says > "suck"
You click any other page > banner says > "cocks"

roadblocking is a cool concept of tracking individual user and displaying advertizements which span across few pages.
In the future we might see roadblocks span across different websites.

Re: Youtube Battlefront: The costs of CoS

Does ANYONE click banner ads on websites these days? I know I don't. Hell, I don't even SEE the motherfuckers...I didn't notice the CoS ads on Enturb until someone made a thread about them.

I don't use any adblockers, except the one in my brain...and I suspect more and more people have one.
