Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Another YouTube account, , is also uploading the meeting videos; they should all be back up by tomorrow evening.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? And here is the list of individual videos, in case someone doesn't care for playlists:
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Was just about to post the local news coverage thing. Just looks like a NIMBY situation, since they can't really talk about the ZOMG!CULT aspects of it, but we'll see how it shakes out tonight. I haz a speech. I'm keeping it short. We'll see what I can do with what little time I have.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? I suggest sending WSBTV a nice comment thanking for the coverage and ask for moar. I focused on supporting the local resident opinions and mentioned that scientology knew about the zone limits before they got the building. talk2us@wsbtv.com
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Great success! 400 people signed a petition! That is more people that don't want then exist in ATL. /r/ someone screencap that and get it on YT.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? I did this last night, and today I received a nice (though very form-ish) thank-you reply from them. It's a nice station. Many of us should email, letting them know how much we appreciate their coverage. And don't forget to comment about the crappy building (like the tight shot of the shutter that's just a stick remaining)
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Update: Sadly, it seems there's another deferral. More information will come when its available.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Apparently there was an 11th hour submittal. Word on the street is that Galloway and scientology are still trying to get approval to enclose the underground parking, which will eliminate 30 parking spaces. It will go back to the Planning Commission in September, and back to the Mayor and City Council in October. I think they're trying to do that "wear your opponent down until they give up" thing they do in the courts, not realizing (or maybe not caring) that it just buys us more time to raise awareness of the issue. Their members who were present look really tired and worn down, though.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? tired of this cult and tired of this rezoning disaster sci has created DON'T YOU GET IT cos THEY DON'T WAN'T YOU!!!!
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Guys, I'm very serious about this. Go to the bldg and take lots of pictures of the broken shutters and run down nature. Also document any nearby abandoned bldgs in a similar state of disrepair. Go to the mayor and planning dept/head of planning/city engineer... and highly suggest they enforce any laws on blighting. The city should rule this bldg blighted based on the amount of years sat unoccupied and also the condition of the exterior. Google up on it and what some cities have dont to blight even relatively new condos.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Latest coverage from Sandy Springs Reporter, including the neighbor's case in opposition: City will vote Aug. 18 on Church of Scientology rezoning I thought the neighbors case linked in article might be of interest.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? This letter is an EXCELLENT template. It is full of win, including: - Using scilon bragging about fake membership numbers against them. - Front groups use of property increase impact beyon "Church" zoning - Using Nashville against them in spite of a "study" of parking measurements on a Sunday used to justify the new bldg - Pics of other run-down scientology bldgs used against the applicant To any other cities still in the re-zoning process, please read this letter.

Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Date mix up? The 17th is referred to in the article.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? It looks like someone inadvertently posted the article with the date of the next meeting.

Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Holy shit, I didn't realize scilons have basically threatened city lawyers with bringing a Federal RLA suit if they didn't get zoning approved... So scilons are going to get their basement parking converted to a santuary, AND have to add zero spots. Oh, BTW the city will never be able to realign the road because scilons will lose like 10 more spots. I can't understand why the city won't enforce zoning for parking. This isn't a "church" that needs a Sunday service and one large mtg room. This is basically an office bldg or school type Institutional zoning that needs parking based on number of classrooms and auditing closets. Wait until they put in a sauna and move in the NarcoNUTs ... Anyways, you ATLfags should write up a HOWTO, summary, historical reference after this vote is over, because I think your work was key to even getting this far. How a handful of Anons help a community battle an Ideal Org.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? for whatever it's worth I'll write up my stuff when this is all over, BUT it will be just what I did. This did take a lot of work from everyone here and we were lucky to have neighbors that love their community so much. We have received help from protesters around the world with picts of rundown orgs, etc. To the protesters, the neighbors, the press, and even bob adams for screwing up so bad Thanks!!!
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Bumping old thread (Media didn't QUITE seem like the best place since I have no media links) The cult has been DENIED permission to enclose their basement/parking area. Apparently they're none to happy!
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? they can move in but without a sanctuary! They could moved in at any time, but this rezoning issue was the hold up. I consider this epic and a win

Apparently they're none to happy! Terrific news!! Kudos to all critics of this rezoning issue!!! Atl Anons & critics, neighborhood associations and residents all who worked together to do a really great job on this! Perseverence pays!! Mary McConnell
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? I so wish I had been there! I know I'll get to see the videos eventually, but STILL!

Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Good lord, it's like they have some pathological need to make asses of themselves.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? Awesome...they didn't do that great at the community meetings. Let's hope the residents heavily inform those involved as plaintiffs. 10,000 Scientologists in Georgia! Virgin Corinthian leather! Polished wood paneling! (don't look over there, we're building us a chapel in the parking garage)
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? A federal bawwwsuit eh? For wewigious discwimination? That should be fun.
Re: Zoning Meeting for Scieno Property--What To Do? can not wait! it looks like its Sandy Springs and some Nuns vs the cult
